Daytime legend Frances Reid passed away on February 3 at the age of 95.
She will be best known to Days of Our Lives audiences as Alice, the proud matriarch of the Horton family, a role that she played since the series premiered in 1965. Even back then she was no stranger to the world of soaps. Reid had already established herself as a reliable actress in the genre with her roles on As The World Turns (as Grace Baker 1959-1962) and Edge of Night (as Rose Pollack in 1964).

General Hospital will air its 12,000th episode on February 23.

This milestone honors the strength of the daytime drama and looks to the future that ‘General Hospital’ will continue to air many, many more episodes,” Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps has stated about this achievement. When As The World Turns goes off the air this fall, GH will be the longest running soap still on TV.
Veteran production designer Bob Rappaport has died.
Rappaport was the Production Designer/Art Director on such notable TV series as “The Mike Douglas Show,” “Let’s Make A Deal,” “Santa Barbara” and Days of Our Lives. The Pittsburgh, PA. native earned a Master’s Degree in Theatre Design at New York University. Rappaport died of cardiac arrest on January 28 2010 in Lakeland, Florida at the age of 67. He is survived by his two children and brothers.
