Days of Our Lives’ Deidre Hall on the Campaign Trail!
With the Presidential election campaign now in full swing, Soap Opera Fan Blog can report that Deidre Hall (Marlena, Days) is also busy on the campaign trail. The actress is lending her support to Democratic candidate Barack Obama. She has campaigned for Democratic nominees in the past and hopes that Obama’s platform for women’s rights will resonate with voters this year.
As a sign of this, Hall spent September 14 with U.S. Representative, Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), traveling through Central Florida. They were part of the “Change We Need” Tour which stopped in Silver Springs, Gainesville and The Villages retirement community. She took part in the “Women For Obama” event where participants discussed Obama’s stance on issues such as social security, equal pay, health care and the right to reproductive choice.

I’ve watched Days since 1968 and have fast-forwarded through Marlena’s scenes for years. I like the old John but Marlena makes me gag. It’s about time for her to retire. I sure won’t miss her.

I don’t believe this! Budget cuts?? Why are they hiring more people, if they can’t afford the ones that have actually MADE the show what it is, then why hire new people? This truly stinks! For those of us who have watched the show for years and years, we have come to consider the veterans like a family outside a family. Use some imagination with the characters that you have. I am so bored with Lexie feeling sorry for herself over Theo. There are so many families that struggle with children who are autistic and they don’t sit around crying and feeling sorry for themselves. That story and character line could be clipped out. Now that Trent Robbins killer has been caught, Melanie can go also. USE YOUR IMAGINATION PLEASE AND KEEP THE SHOW ALIVE WITH THE VETERANS that we LOVE! AND IF YOU ARE SENDING JOHN AND MARLENA AWAY, WHY IS IT THAT BRADY CAME BACK???? NONE OF SALEM WOMEN WANT HIM, SO HE CAN GO BACK TO WHEREEVER IT WAS THAT HE CAME!!! COME ON PEOPLE! NOW THAT THE MAYOR’S KILLER IS BEING CAUGHT, RAFE CAN GO AWAY TOO! This is HORRIBLE news and many VETERAN DAYS FANS ARE NOT HAPPY! Is this their way of slowing getting rid of the show? Get rid of the veteran characters, so ratings drop and than the show can be cancelled sooner?

They need to really look at their story lines ex. Nicole and Ej story is a joke, to lose john and Marlena I beleive the show will fold talk about budget so is Nicole and Chloe. This is obsurd!!!! regards

This is total bull, I am super upset to hear this. Budget cuts, oh really why would they hire new actors then? Get rid of the boring characters like lexy and abe?? I am bored to death with them. I wouldn’t be surprised if the show loses a few viewers over this!!

This is total nonsense. You bring these idiots in that can’t act, e.g. “Melanie” or continue with the BORING story lines of Kate and Daniel–please!!Get rid of these knuckleheads instead of Deidre and Drake who are obviously BIG draws for this soap. I agree with the other’s comments on Lexie and particularly Nicole. How many times is the baby pillow plot
going to be rehashed? The Sammie nonsense is getting really old, as well. And to also agree with others’ comments—why are you hiring MORE if you can’t ‘budget’ the ones who’ve held the show
together? As for bring Brady back–what’s the purpose–what’s the plan? Is this your way of axing the show—to lose viewer interest instead of just coming out and cancelling? NBC has been heading south for a long time in the programming department anyway. At least we have a choice–the OFF button.

NO NO No. surely there is someone else you could cut. Lexie and Abe should go before them. John and Marlena are a major m part of the shows. for us that have watched for years this is why we watch to see the people we grew up with watching. this decision needs to be reconsidered.

I HAVE ONLY ONE THING TO SAY THIS SUCKS. GET RID OF DANIEL NOTHING BUT A SKIRT CHASER AND WANTING TO SCREW EVERYONE. NOT SURE IF I WANT TO WATCH DAYS OF OR LIVES ANYMORE.

There are many others that should go before Marlena and John. I have been a Days fan for 26 years but I guess all good things must end. I will have no more loyalty to the show than the show has to Marlena & John. If they are gone then so am I. Bye
