Soap Opera Fan Blog Talks with Greg Vaughan.
I had the chance to interview General Hospital’s Greg Vaughan (Lucky Spencer) not long ago, and I jumped at it.
After a double-header round of ‘phone tag’ we finally found ourselves perched in our respective houses, some 2000 miles apart, and chatting it up. The first thing I asked him was how he feels about having Genie Francis (Laura Spencer) back on the set, does he know if he’ll be having any scenes with her, or will Lulu be a ‘mom hog’? “I hope so,” Greg told me. “I hope that she is with us for a long period, not just a three-week run. That’s pretty much a unanimous sentiment around the set, too. Having her around truly is magic.” I commented on how great Genie looks and Greg added that she feels great, too, and seems really happy to be back.
Moving on to the subject of Lucky, I told him how glad I was to see his character finally come out of the drug addiction and downward spiral that he was on for much of last year. Greg admitted that trying to keep up with that storyline was hard, and that he had to mentally check out while bringing such challenging material to life. In the end, it was a very rewarding experience for him, not only as an actor, but personally as well. He has come in contact with many people at fan events who have overcome their addictions and appreciated his portrayal of Lucky’s struggles. He added, “I know a lot of people weren’t excited about how dark it went, and the network even toned it back a little…” compared to where head writer Bob Guza originally intended it to be. Greg told me that he lost twenty pounds during the whole ordeal.
No interview with such a hot leading man would be complete without asking his opinion of who he thinks his character should be romantically linked with, right?
“I couldn’t have predicted that Lucky and Sam would have bonded as quickly as they have. It’s been a breath of fresh air since he’s been able to connect with her. He’s like a kid again!” Greg admits. I totally agree, it’s been fun to see Lucky shed some of his demons and have that sparkle in his eye again.
Greg told me that it was his grandmother who introduced him to Daytime TV. To this day, she scrapbooks Greg’s GH work for him, but is a huge Young and Restless fan. Greg reports that his grandmother thinks, “Shemar Moore is the hottest man that she’s ever seen.”
I’d have to agree on that one, too.

Greg is a very nice looking man and I enjoy his work on GH. However, I have to agree with his grandmother. Shemar Moore is the hottest man that I’ve ever seen. He was terrific on Y&R and even better on Criminal Minds.

P.S. Thank you, Shemar!

Great article. I am a big fan of Lucky and Sam. You are right the hot Lucky is back and he is happy. Sam brings out the best in him. They are soon becoming my favorite couple of all time on General Hospital.

I’m going to have to have a talk with Greg’s grandmother. Because I think Greg’s the hottest man I’ve ever seen!!
I don’t know who to thank for the luscious, sizzling pairing of Lucky and Sam, but they’ve invigorated both characters and GH with their special brand of sexual healing and some of the most heartfelt scenes I’ve ever seen on GH.
Viva Love in the afternoon LuSam style!!
