Yet another Days Of Our Lives Poll for John & Marlena!
The two were axed, and will be riding off into the sunset, come January, but what will you be doing? Fans on Soap Opera Fan are expressing mostly anger, at the thought of no longer seeing one of the most favorite couples on the show, while we’re noticing very few to be accepting of the news. In which category do you fall? Vote now!
Thoughts? Even though we all understand that this is done to preserve the show, are you still angry with Ken Corday, Dena Higley, and the show in general, or are you going to accept it and hope for the best? Let us know!

I HAVE WATCHED THIS SHOW FOR A LOT OF YEARS AND IF THEY TAKE MARLENA AND JOHN OFF THE SHOW THEY WILL LOSE A LOT OF VIEWERS. I KNOW THE YOUNGER CROWD HAS TO COME IN BUT WE STILL NEED THE HEART OF THE SHOW. THEY WILL BE KILLING THE SHOW FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE.

The writers at Days are really having a huge collective brain fart. None of the story lines make sense right now. It’s been that way for awhile and I don’t remember a dry spell lasting this long in all the years I’ve been watching Days.

The writers have ruined the charactor of John Black. He’s become a waste of space. So he doesn’t remember his past! Still give him a storyline. Right now he’s boring. If the writers can’t find a storyline for him then definetely they should write him off - for now. Marlena needs to move on without John, but stay on the show. Who would half the people of Salem go to with their problems if Marlena left? And the storyline for Marlena - slowly but surely she and Roman should find their way back together. That also gives the Roman charactor something to do, and Sami would be so thrilled.

I am very upset costs this show is all we have nowadays and to get rid of two major actors and actress is not going to make alot of people happy. It is bad enough when you change someone and they have a new person working in their spot. But when Shaun and i seem to forget her name already left to sail around the world you have to wonder where they are going. To many dimarea plots that man never dies and that gets sickning. No one can live that long. Why does evil make it love should win out. No one on that show stays together i thought Bo was leaving for awhile and i was going to leave. So we shall see keep up with making people leave and we all will go with them!!!

Shame on you for wasting John & Marlena all these months the same old lines everyday. If the writers had been on the ball you could have had a terrific story going for them. I’m sorry ro say you could ax Abe, Lexie,Theo,Max,
Melanie & Stephanie they wouldn’t be missed and you could have some great stories going…tell the writers after so many years we are
are very tired of Stefano and want to see some decent writing because everyone agrees for months your stories have been nothing & the same conversations repeated so much gets very very boring.

Yes I think it is great we can make comments, I just hope Ken Corday and the writers read them. I can remember the stories Days has had over the years and they were right up there w/ Young and Restless in the ratings.Wake up your writers get rid of half of the young ones, your fans are not the young set, your real fans are the ones that have been loyal over many decades and just remember the good stories we use to get.

its a total shame that Sue’s comments above make absolutely no sense due to poor gramatic ability and spelling errors. i do think that eliminating John and Marlena is a msitake althought their story line has been a bit ridiculous lately, brain washing?? Come on we are intelligent people watching this show, and I thought the devil possession was bad enough! I do think with the character of Alice nearly all but gone Salem does need some sort of patriarchal cahracters and Marlena and John would fit the bill

I have been watching DOL since I was 10 years old. I am now 50 years old. When you remove Marlena and John, I and my Mother have vowed to stop watching DOL. You could have axed Kate, Nicole, Tony, Anna, and most of all Melanie, Nick and maybe a few of the others instead of Marlena and John. Save your money on the Kate’s and Nicole’s and Melanie’s.
You are destroying one of the very few soaps that are watched by loyal dedicated fans for years. For 5 generations it has been in my family and I am sure others.
All I can say is thanks for the memories and too bad you won’t be winning anymore awards.

I think this will hurt a lot of viewers who have watched so many years. If you are trying to attract a younger audience, just say so. Don’t take away two of the most popular people who have carried the show and won so many nominations like no one else ever has. Bad move, in my opinion, as if it really counts!

I don’t understand why the older couples have to leave to attract the younger audience. Is there a reason that Salem’s young and old cannot coexist?
Without John and Marlena DOOL does not have very much going for it. Bo & Hope, Steve & Kayla, Abe & Lexie, Doug & Julie really don’t have anything going on to keep my interest. I like John’s new humour and would like to see it stay along with him. Even if he does get his memory back he should retain some of his new personality without the robotics.
The writers have takens so long dragging out John’s amnesia plot line that it will be interesting to see how they rush this ending.
Either way, this is a BAD decision if it is for the long term. Perhaps John and Marlena just need to take a vacation for awhile to “reuinite” like Shawn and Belle; anything more permanent will result fan loss.
As a fan from a toddler to an adult I can assure you that if DOOL continues it’s downslide, I will NOT be watching. In fact I have already given it a deadline that it has to get better by or I will have to find something else to occupy my hour!!!
I hope the writers and producers are paying attention to us “older” audiences because it seems we’re the only ones still watching!

I have watched Days since I was 12 years old (I’m 50 now!) Unbelievable that Days would get rid of Marlena and John! Enough already! If you want to get rid of some people - PLEASE dump Melanie - she is a total waste of time! Is this how you reward loyal fans? Well, this loyal fan is turning the tv off if Marlena and John go!

It seems to me that Corday Productions is miscalculating the true power that the characters of Deidre and Drake hold with committed viewers. The addition of mindless moronic characters that have been added over the past year or two is a mistake and DOOL will subsequently lose the most powerful viewers who spend the most money purchasing products that are advertised on DOOL. Younger viewers who may like the “teenybopper” mentality which has been hyped in an effort to snare “younger” viewers in general do not have the earning capacity or expendable income to capture the income advertisers are looking for on the soaps. The addition of these characters, which seem to have storylines going in every direction possible, have been a dismal failure. I have watched the show from its premiere when I was a child watching with my mother. Firing Marlena and Drake is a travesty and it is unfortunate that Corday Productions has chosen to fire two talented mainstays of this show instead of getting rid of the no-talent wannabes they have put on camera. When Marlena and John are gone, I will no longer be a viewer of DOOL!

I have watched this show since the 1980’s and have seen it go steadily downhill for some time. Sadly, someone has chosen to eliminate another good story line by removing John and Marlena from this show. The writers have ruined other potentially good story lines. Good writers don’t do that and good producers should know that. Chloe, who has a beautiful singing voice, is not being cast to her potential and I am sure other cast members will get bored and go on to other
shows. I can’t imagine Steve and Cayla staying either. Stefano is a good actor who is also not being given a good script. I have watched this show for many years and I don’t intend to keep watching it. It is sad to see what I considered the best soap opera on TV shooting itself in the foot.

Where are our super couples? They have so many more stories and yet the show is filled with fluff. I would love to see Victor and Caroline with a story but we get Daniel and Chloe. If I see angst on Daniel’s face one more time I will scream. You brought back Steve and Kayla, why, to be used as fillers? I adore Bo and Hope, but even they are not John and Marlena. I would rather see eight people all the time than thirty people spread out over a month with just a snip here and there. And please God, somebody recast Melanie, better yet, send her to prison with Nick.

NBC . . you continue to slaughter the All American family, don’t you? You are killing what used to be the American dream of a one-love life. You are adding to the immorality of this present Nation, by teaching the younger generation that it’s okay to \throw away\ traditional 3 generation families. You’re all disgusting. It’s not about John and Marlena. It’s about your willingness to cater to the spoiled youth who line your pockets. How many of you don’t participate in traditional 3 generation family holiday gatherings? You can thank yourselves for selling air time promoting lack of respect, breaking His commandments, and glamorizing immorality. You know who you are .. and you aren’t Christians. To your faithful viewers: get your life together .. be honest, loyal, and faithful to your loved ones. That’s what the characters ‘John & Marlena’ gave us.

I think it’s all a ratings ploy…get rid of them now, bring them back for May sweeps to get viewer numbers up again. I don’t think it’s the last we’ve seen of them.

I have been watching or following the show since 1977, and the only reason I stayed with the show was John and Marlena. I was hoping they were to become the new version of Tom and Alice Horton. Whoever made this decision, made a big mistake, and lost me as a viewer.

I’M SO MAD THAT THEY TOOK OFF JOHN AND MARLENA THAT I’M DONE WITH THE SHOW. I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH SOME OF THE OTHERS IN SAYING THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER CHARACTERS THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEMS SEEING THEM GO. I WOULD HAVE MUCH RATHER YOU CUT OUT 4,5,OR 6 OTHER PEOPLE THAN CUT OUT JOHN AND MARLENA. LIKE srl SAID JOHN AND MARLENA WERE THE TOM AND ALICE OF THE SHOW. BAD MOVE KEN CORDAY AND ALL OF YOUR OTHER COHORTS. IT’S JUST SAD THAT YOU’LL PROBABLY REALIZE YOU MADE ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES IN THIS SHOWS HISTORY WHEN IT’S A LITTLE TOO LATE AND THE SHOW IS KAPUT!!!
