We’re finally getting a little clarity after the chaos that erupted last month.

It had been feverishly reported that Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip Kiriakis) had left the cast of Days of Our Lives, clearing out his dressing room after contract negotiations had failed. People were even reporting that other actors were being auditioned for the role and someone may have already been tapped to replace him.

Fan upset and gloomy reports continued until it was finally stated that the actor had not left the show and, in fact, just signed a new deal. To confirm this, he told our sister site, Soaps.com, that, “I AM still working at DOOL, and very happy to be there. I look forward to the upcoming stories that are planned.”

When asked how this whole furor erupted, Jay had this to say: “Regarding the whole, ‘clearing out my dressing room’, story…totally blown out of proportion. I don’t feel the need to get into specifics, but I was unhappy with how the story was reported.”

Fans of the actor can rest knowing that he’ll be sticking around, even if some other actors aren’t so lucky. Soap Opera Fan Blog is thrilled that we won’t be losing him and hope that he’ll be lighting up our TV screens with his fabulous smirk for a long time to come.
