Soap Opera Fan Blog Talks with General Hospital’s Megan Ward!
For a woman who portrays an icon in the fashion industry, Megan Ward certainly seems about as ‘girl next door’ as you can get.
She grew up in Hawaii because when her mother was pregnant with her, the Los Angeles-based family vacationed there and decide to move! Her dad put in for a transfer at the pharmaceutical company where he worked, and viola! Her parents were both involved in Community Theater, and as a result, Megan grew up in children’s theater. Megan’s three other siblings didn’t go into acting, so she referred to herself as ‘the last hope to make it in Hollywood’, although the family definitely has ties in the business today.
Megan’s father is an acting coach, her teacher sister married a gaffer (this term refers to production crew members who are involved in lighting), her older brother is a dolly grip (the person responsible for the movement of the camera during filming). Megan also had another brother who died in a car crash sixteen years ago.
Megan joked about the first job she had after giving birth to her son Oliver several years ago. It was on the NBC drama “Boomtown.” She said, “I had to do a scene completely naked with Donny Wahlberg and my brother was the dolly grip!” She also spoke briefly of her time on the Sci-Fi series “Dark Skies” in which the actors and crew put in eighty-hour work weeks. “I don’t want that for myself now. I want to be a mother.” A little later in our conversation about work schedules, she added, “This is the right time for me and for GH.”
Then Megan and I detoured a bit and started talking about her giant house renovation project that has her family living in a townhouse for a few months. Yes, Santa will find her two children there because it will be March before the house renovation is complete. Megan says that her family is enjoying the temporary digs because there are many children to play with and a courtyard. She told me that with a son and a daughter, she and her husband have ‘the totality of the parenting experience’ and are done! She does admit to having a yearning or two when seeing little babies though.

Megan Ward: I know! Emma is played by twin girls who are itty bitty and so very cute with a full head of hair.
Megan and I eventually started chatting about internet soap sites and how loyal her fan base is. She said, “Every TV show benefits from the active conversation that occurs on the net. The water cooler conversation is phenomenal.”

I enjoyed your interview with Megan Ward. She is such a kind wonderful person and a fantastic actor. I viewed your website because of Megan and I like it. Keep up the good work and please continue supproting Megan and Maurice which will attract more viewers!

Kate Howard is here to stay!!! I love Megan Ward!! There is no one who can compete with this girl!! I am a HUGE SKate fan and will continue to strive for my couple to get back together forever. Thank you for interviewing Megan, She is always such a tremendous Joy to listen to.

Loved the interview. I absolutely adore Megan Ward and I think she is a remarkable lady. To have gone off on her own at such a young age and to have accomplished all she has is so admirable. I believe of all the actresses on GH she has the youngest child (2 yr old) and a mother myself I greatly appreciate what that means. Kate Howard takes on more crap then the NYC sewer system and I will always love her.
