I so enjoy watching DOOL and John & Marlena. I will miss them.

I’m glad John and Marlena are finally back together, but I’m not sad to see them leave the show. I personally think they are the worst actors ever, and the way john kisses, like he is about to devour someones face, makes me sick. I like the changes in cast, it keeps things fresh and new. If we kept the same people for forever, they wouldn’t ever get a new audience, because to someone younger, like me, the scenes with old people kind of bore me. Besides, they will be back someday. Nobody EVER leaves for good….

I think that John and Marlena are icons and the show has had poor ratings ever since their storyline was put on the backburner. I am so sad to see them go. They have great chemistry but have not had a good storyline for years. The show is always bringing on new people and it would be nice to see some of the long time characters stay. If either one of them join another show, I am going to stop watching days and watch them on the other network. And I have been watching days for almost 30 years now…

sure hate to see them leave.. i’ve been watching a long time and their characters were their backbone of the show…
i sure don’t know what they were thinking letting them go… what a terrible mistake??
i can see maybe chloe, lucas and daniel leaving at some point… or maybe not for daniel (he may get with kate again).. love to see max and chelsea together… sure hope bo and hope stay on as well as steve and kayla…
i think sami would be good with rafe (they seem to be into each other)…
nicole and ej (that’s something else all together)… stefano will probably split them up after the baby is here.. i just wonder if he will ever find out that sami had a baby of ej’s too…

John & Marlena are the essence of the Show. What a mistake to let them go. There’s just not as much reason to watch after they leave. Everyone else is not that engaging.

You know, I have been watching this soap for more than 30 years. I just can’t believe you would choose to write such a matriarch couple off this show as John and Marlena!!! I have NEVER written one of these comments in all these years. But I just can’t sit and watch this happen! Why not get rid of someone like Melanie. There are too many YOUNG actors. We need stability in the elders on the show. Hopefully the writers will reconsider their decision.
Your faithful viewer,
Connie

Well, this kind of ending just SUCKS a big one for Marlena and John. The so-called “writers” of this show have ruined the characters they protray. After January 23rd, I will no longer be watching this soap, as will millions of other fans….we can tell when the one’s in charge don’t give a damn about the integredy of their show to let their main characters go like they did. If you watch any other soap, you will find all the older vested vets still there..they are the ANCHORS of the show, with their children “taking over” after they’re gone…sorta like “real life”. They should have NEVER gotten rid of Shawn and Belle either…but this writer and her “MAGNIFICENT” writting staff has screwed this show into the toilet. You get what you pay for, Ted Corday, now let’s see just how long your soap lasts on air?????

While I will hate to see John and Marlena leave, I am sure they will be back. While they are vets of the show, there are still other vets who will have stories that I know will keep us glued to our seat. Plus, it will give a chance for some of the other stars to get some really juicy storylines. I’m looking forward to the changes! And, I can’t wait for the EJ/Nicole storyline to explode. Or, to see what happens with Sami and Rafe!
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
I am really sad to see them go and I agree that the writers that are on now do not have a clue of the history of alot of the characters. The whole deal of Chloe and the bone marrow considering her past and just so many characters doing things out of character that it gets really frustrating. Does anyone else out there think that somehow Nicole it going to get her hands on Sami’s baby and pass it off as hers and the DNA will match for EJ–it just seems very predictable but I hope I am wrong. I really hope that Dierdre and Drake say no when Corday comes a beggin’ them back as much as I would love to see them return.

Well, unless the writers have something big planned, this is the beginning of the end of DOOL. Bo and Hope can’t be the only ones to carry this show. Unfortunately, the 18 month extension will be the end for DOOL and NBC Daytime. At least the folks at NBC finally got their wish. They destroyed their daytime lineup and primetime is almost there. The only thing left is the news divison and it’s heading in the same direction. Die hard NBC follower, but I scratch my head everyday - WHY?
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Big mistake…this is the beginning of the end - or maybe the end of the end. I really wonder who makes the decision to keep the characters no one cares about and those who really can’t act and let go those that are the foundation of the show. Who makes that decision and what are they smoking??
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS!!!!! You made us all wait 6 months for John to come back- AFTER ALLLLLLL of that time and this “weak”(week) long reunion is what you gave to us???? Really??? This is a continued theme with this show- Build us up and have vest 6 months into DUD conclusion!!! I am smoked!!!! Days writers should be fired- You guys suck!!! Olive and Precious I couldn’t agree with you more. Best of wish’s John and Marlena!!!!
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
I agree with all of you John and Marlena fans. They should have done alot more with this reunion. We are even missing one day because of the Presidential Innaguaration.I am going to cry my eyes out when John and Marlena leave,I have been waiting so long for them to get back to eachother and when they finally do they are leaving the show.A GREAT BIG THANKS TO THE WRITERS FOR NOT LISTENING TO WHAT THE FANS WANT!! All I know is after January 23rd I am not even going to bother with Days anymore.John and Marlena are the reason I started watching in 1997 now as they come to an end so does my watching Days.GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR RATINGS!! YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT!! WAY TO GO JOHN AND MARLENA WE LOVE YOU!!

Since they are getting rid of the best loved couple of soaps, I hope they start using the other older ones more. Would like to see Steve and Kayla more, also Bo and Hope. Been too long since either of them had a real story line. Roman needs more time too, and I wish they would bring the other sister back (instead of just special occasione). As all of you said, the writers didn’t know a good thing when they had it (I don’t think they will ever know). I also think they get their kicks out of reading all of our comments!
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
Days is getting rid of the true “vets” of the show. Nothing against the others “vets,” but they don’t compare to John & Marlena by a long shot. Another thing that stikes me about this couple…they are truly loving, honest, upstanding, good people unlike so many of the other characters on Days. As I fast forward thru the show, their parts, Sami/Rafe/EJ are the only ones I watch. Really won’t be much to watch anymore.
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
I can’t believe they’re leaving. I have been watching Days for 36 years. I hope they come back like every one else It won’t be the same
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
I can’t believe John & Marlena are leaving–the best actors and best loved couple, along with Hope & Bo. From a long-time Days watcher, please keep them on the show. You could have given us a longer goodbye too!
Can someone email me a photo of Hope’s wedding ring from her wedding? I love the setting, but could not find out how to get a photo of it. Thanks.

I feel the dread of going to a funeral. I’ve watched Days for 28 years, seen a lot of veterans come and go, but I’m just sick about Marlena and John.
It won’t be the same. The younger actors are okay, but the long established residents of Salem are the roots of the show.
Why, oh why can’t they write a decent story line for for Steve and Kayla!!! It’s so nice to have them back, but they just seem like extras now. Seems the writers can’t make up their minds.
Soooo sick of Sami’s hysterics…she’s always crying. Move the story along, please!
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
I guess the writers have finally found the way to get the show cancelled without any complaints from the fans! It’ll be a new experience for me to not have to make sure that I’m glued to the TV for DOOL! I assume they have a reason for getting rid of ALMOST all of the decent people in Salem, but I’m sure that the few who are left can’t carry the ratings1 why didn’t they just have an earthquake or tidal wave wipe out the whole town at once!

I’m done January 23rd. TPTB for the most part destroyed John and Marlena. Like Drake said, at times he didn’t even recognize the character he was playing the last few years. I intend to stick around and watch the demse of the few remaining core characters. The soft porn with inane dialogue that this show has become, is not my kind of entertainment. I’ll leave that to whatever teenagers with raging hormones bother to watch it.
Comment added January 19th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Excuse my previous typo. I meant that I do NOT intend to stick around and watch the demise of the few remaining core characters. I prefer to remember them with some sort of dignity.

Well I’m glad that they will be together
Day’s definetly lost two of the best actors ever I’m sorry I don’t think they will ever be replaced
It will be a sad day for me a fan for 43 years

For those younger viewers who hate to see or are bored by the older players are missing history of the show. The show wouldn’t exist today if they had not built it up. It is floundering now because the new writers or powers that be have decided to focus strictly on youth. If the younger actors showed some acting ‘chops’ it might bode well for the future.
Do you think your grandparents are useless in your life? Do you think physical relationships do not exist after a particular age. Soaps are about families. Not just the kids. There needs to be a balance.
The younger actors are in the sack most of the time or we are viewing bare-chested men in the winter. While eye candy is nice - story lines keep the ball rolling.
John and Marlena act with what they are given. Too bad what has been written is boring.
Best players play in successful businesses - be it sports or corporate America.
If this is a trick to tick us off and then pull the rug by returning them - been there - done that waayyy too many times.

Faithful fan since 1966, that’s 43 years. I am stunned that the show would let John and Marlena go. I also think they should return to the premise of stories centered on family characters. Make Doug and Julie the core characters much like Tom and Alice Horton were for years and the Bo and Hope would figure more prominently, along with the Brady family. In my opinion, the early years were the best in terms of story lines. Couldn’t wait to watch. Now it verges on pornographic love scenes and everyone hopping from bed to bed with no continuity of plot anywhere. I have gone from being glued to my TV every day to watch the next episode to catching it if I can and not worrying about missing it, because there’s not much to miss. Best wishes to Deidre and Drake.

Terribly upset that John and Marlena are being written out of the show. They are the core. I certainly hope they will be back. If the writers expect to keep the loyal viewers they will bring them back at some point in the not so distant future.

I have watched DDOL since I was young and that was 100 years ago. Seeing John and Marlena depart is going to be as sad as when Mcdonald Carrie died and Alice Horton was not at the riming of the tree any more. When I had my own Christmas traditions I encluded a triming like on DOOL. I agree with everyone this will be a sad time and Days will bite the dust after 18mo if not sooner. The story lines are dull and the actors are awful these days. Bring back the old crew and show them a trick of 2.

I’ve been watching for 30 years. I’m just SICK that they are getting rid of John and Marlena. Might as well get rid of Bo & Hope and Kayla & Steve too. And change the name to something else, because it is NOT Days of Our Lives anymore!

Marlena cried - John cried - I cried….I just hope Mr Corday doesn’t end up crying after this decision!

I will miss this couple as it was touching as Roman was there for them as it looked like he was giving his support for them. I feel that this is a sad day on DooL and hope they can come back and visit the family if needed to be for there children. Please dont completely have them taken off. Please lets sign a letter to keep them on or visit at certain times.
Comment added January 24th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
The writers have made a mistake by taking John& Marlena off the show. However if this is the actors wishes to move on then we the viewers should wish them well. I will miss their story line. The kind of love they share is very real I am living proof my husband and I.If I could say one thing to John and Marlena god bless and do not let the this block any of your blessing that God has in store for you.

I’ve been watching Days since it began. If John and Marlena go, that’s it for me. While I’m also interested in the plot lines of the younger folk, I’m most interested in the characters that are near my age - Roman, Marlena, John, Victor, Kate etc. I looked forward to the day when I would be retired and didn’t have to tape Days while I was at work. Well, if the only plots will be about teenagers, I’m sad to say I won’t be tuning anymore. Days has always been about all the generations of the Bradys and Hortons - even the DeMeras. Family angst. That’s real life. It’s getting further and further away from that. I simply do NOT like where the show is going. If this is just a publicity stunt and John and Marlena return, I might still be gone for good. I’m tired of Days writers and producers teasing me and dragging me around on an emotional leash. They don’t deserve my loyalty.
