Like one of our favorite daytime actresses, Soaps.com has an interest in going ‘green’. If you’re looking for more tips on how to help our environment, we invite you to read tips from one of your fave soap actresses, Judith Chapman.
Soaps.com: Tell me about Southern Green.
Judith: That’s a site that I’ve been a part of for about a year and a half now. You know, now it is ‘hip’ to be green. For 20 years I have been saying that until we elect a president that is willing to think green, alternative energy, we are in a heap of trouble. Look at us now. We are in a heap of trouble!
Soaps.com: You called it!
Judith: I called it 20 years ago, but I’m not the only one. I can’t take all the credit for it. So, about a year and a half ago I started this site with a dear, dear family friend (also from Greenville where you are) and she set it up for me. The site is all about asking fans to go to the site and keep adding to it. Any itsy bitsy little tips that they can use to help the planet and heal the planet. One of the things (going back to the beauty question) you know, we go out and buy all of these expensive scrubs that come in lots of plastic and packaging. There is something else that works so well and is environmentally friendly. Instead of using an expensive scrub from some beauty salon, use coffee grounds. I have an espresso machine, so I use espresso, but do it over the sink. Add warm water to your face, take the coffee grounds and scrub your face gently. Coffee beans actually have a great deal of oil in them, so it is a wonderful scrub and also a moisturizer. Gee, no packaging, just do it over the sink, it’s biodegradable and it washes away. So, the next time you are at your favorite coffee house, ask them to get those grounds to go! Take them home, do it over the sink though, don’t do it in the bathroom. I do it all the time. I stand over the sink and rub coffee grounds into my face. There you go. You’ve eliminated plastic, you’ve eliminated paper packaging and you have eliminated expensive costs! I mean, come on! You’re already having the coffee, so you are immediately recycling!
