Mary Beth Evans and Stephen Nichols Set to Exit From Days of Our Lives.
Two more vets leave the cast of Days!
Update: February 17.
The show has revealed that February 17 was the couple’s last official air date. They are being sent off without a big exit story, but , presumably, Kayla will be recovering from her bullet wound.
Original Article: February 4.
Soap Opera Fan Blog has learned that there are two more vets set to leave the cast of Days of Our Lives. Mary Beth Evans (Dr. Kayla Johnson) and Stephen Nichols (Steve ‘Patch’ Johnson), who have been portraying the supercouple for more than a generation, have been let go.
The news arrives after the recent, much publicized, departures of fellow supercouple John and Marlena (Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall) and in the wake of news that Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera) will also be leaving. Further news on what this departure could mean for the show has yet to be released.
Steve and Kayla originally played a major role on the series between 1986 and 1990 before he supposedly died. They returned, as a couple, in 2006. Their final airdates and plot exit have yet to be revealed.
Soap Opera Fan Blog will keep you updated with information as it becomes public.

Does anyone remember the writer’s strike? DOOL was awesome then. They are firing the wrong people, how about NEW WRITERS!

Does anyone remember the “writer’s strike”? Remember how good the show was then? They are firing the wrong people, they need to fire the writers and get the one’s that replaced them before back to writing!
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Ugh!!! This is not a good sign. Whose next, Bo and Hope? I’m afraid DOOL is getting ready to go the way of Another World.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
That’s it! They’ve lost me as a viewer! I was mad when they got rid of John & Marlena but this is the last straw. Next will be Bo & Hioe!!Too many of the fan faves are getting the ax. I don’t care about these newbies!!!!
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I agree with you Gayle. I’m not happy with all the new people. Their slowly replacing everyone. It won’t be Days of Our Lives anymore. After their finished with the changes they might as well change the name. I’ve been watching for about 25 years and this is the first time that I’ve been so disapointed.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
FIRE THE WRITERS!!!! I named my daughter after Kayla and was thrilled when the couple returned. Get your head out of your a#$ and save our Days! If anyone should be let go it is maggie with her boring storylines and daniel what a waste. Bring some fun back to town with jack and jen or celeste! Wake up people you are writing your way out of a job!

i can’t stand kayla’s stuttering anyhow. she’s annoying.

hopfeully tony will help to expose nicole/mia before he leaves. i guess the economy can’t support the rediculus salaries of these overpaid actors.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
i hope tony helps to expose nicole/mia before he exits. i guess the economy can’t afford to back the rediculus salaries that these awful actors reel in.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN’T GET ANY WORSE, IT DOES…MIGHT AS WELL PACK IT IN, FANS..DAYS WILL SOON BE HISTORY ….AGAIN….THANKS A “BIG ONE” TO TED CORDAY FOR FUKKING UP A GREAT SHOW!!!!

I don’t get it. They want younger audiences? They are trying to appeal the show to the younger crowd? Younger people don’t even have time to watch, we read it online! Its not even on a time anymore that younger viewers can watch it, its during school hours for pete’s sake because of that doctor’s show! I’m young, I’m only 21yrs old and I DO NOT find the story lines with the younger crowd at all appealing to watch! Get a clue writers, your ideas are NOT working! I have to deal enough crap in my life with people my own age, give me something to look forward to, marriage, a family, and a career. Love that lasts, not dumb young flings and infatuations! Super couples are what make soaps, taking them away, simply destroys the show! Out with the old in with the new? How about we do that with the writers and not the actors!!!
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
They are doing all of this on purpose.
They want this show to get canceled!
From the day that Steve and Kayla came back they didn’t give them a decent story line.
What a waste of great actors.
John and Marlene.gone..Tony gone…now Steve and Kayla.
This is really sad.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
John and Marlena’s story line had simply run out. Steve and Kayla have had no storyline. I have been watching since 1967 and seen people come and go. Simply stated some of the magic has gone for the older characters.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
It was so exciting when they brought these two back on the show. Although Steve and Kayla haven’t had much of a story since their “big” reunion, this is still not fair to the fans that have stood by through so many of the shows decisions that was obviously not to please us.
I accepted John and Marlena leaving but as a result of this I’m sad to say I’m done with this show….I doubt I will even read up on Days on the various websites (to learn what’s new) - who cares now really.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Ugh! I grew up with Days and have been trying SOOOO hard to hang in there, but this might be it for me now as well. All these new, worthless characters annoy me to no end, especially that -looking little actress that plays Maxs’ sister, Melanie - YUCK!
RIP Days…….

I think it is wrong for ANY soap opera to fire a veteran actor/actress. Meaning any person who’s been on a show for 10 years or more deserves respect. I think it is terrrible for Brad Carlton to of been let go while these little horrible actress remain. I think it is terrible for Marlena and John as others to of been let go while again, theres a bunch of new horrible actresses remain. I think not only is it horrible for the watcher of the soaps, it is also disrespect to keep 2nd class acting in place when letting go of real 1st class acting. But who are we to say…. Actually we do, when the ratings go down, we have made our statements. You would think Days would of gotten the idea after letting Shawn and Belle go, but they still ain’t learned. And seems to me Y&R is following in the same footsteps, with the let go of Brad, Dru, Malcom etc. Anyway, these are only my opinions. Many will have the same as many will not. A famous person once said, “YOU CAN SATIFSY SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME. YOU CAN SATISFY SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME. YOU CAN SATISFY ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU CAN NEVER SATISFY ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME.” I guess I too fall in that category. lol Happy Valentines day to all out there and to all the soap stars. Whether your a Good or Bad actor/actress, Your where you are because your better than I. Kudos to all

That’s it for me. It was bad enough to loose Marlena, John, and Tony and Anna! Now to have Steve and Kayla go, it’s just too much!!!
Take Days and Shove It!!!!!!!!
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Face it writers etc…you have taken what could have been a wonderful show and totally trashed it. John and Marlena…Steve and Kayla…and yet you keep the most untalented group of actors I have ever seen..Stephanie, Mel, Chelsea, and please DR DAN–he is a creepy guy and has very little acting ability..but then creepy charcters just have to be creepy..not too difficult..Really, the show at it’s best is Stefano, EJ, Sami, even Victor oh btw…loose Kate she is the most annoying character ever written.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
Typical lack of attention to fans. The only ones who care about these younger performers are those who don’t care about the history of the show. With Steve and Kayla gone, Stephanie has no family’ with John and Marlena gone, Brady has no family, Sami has no mom. That usually meant your days were numbered…you always needed an extended family with whom to interact. Everyone who can act is on a backburner or unused and we are subjected to Melanie, Chelsea etc. Pretty soon there will be no core families and it will be like the TV show in the 60’s called “The New People” In it a group of people crashed on an island and had to start a new civilization. Yea…that will get me to tune in to Days. Corday should have saved a lot of money and heartache by not renegotiating and pulling the plug on the show.
Done..over and out. See ya Days

Can’t they just get rid of Kayla and keep Patch? He was a great character when he first came around, strutting around like an alley cat, but they effectively neutered him by pairing him with the Bo’s mousy sister. They were able to make John fun again by taking him away from Marlena, they could easy do that for Patch

I have been watching the show since it started (yes I am that old). I can’t believe what they are doing. If they think they are appealing to a younger audience that will buy their advertiser’s products, they are wrong. They new young ones are annoying. There are no great stories anymore. They gave the veterens no story lines. What they seem to forget is advertisers want to sell their products and it’s us older folks who have the money - what fools they be.

Does it even matter to write anything is anyone listening ? Or is it a waste of time ? .. Why oh why do you bring in new people that mean nothing to anyone and let go of everyone that do mean something to people.. the show is nothing without John and Marlena .hope and bo..the kids..the phoenix and kiriakus..kayla and Steve.. wake up you’re running out of time..ruining it all. like John would say and that’s a FACT !

I have watched for the last 42 years. The show is the worst I can ever remember. I find myself fast forwarding my DVR. How fast can you watch a soap? When it stinks…very fast. It has definitely jumped the shark!

See you Days!!!! This is just out of control. First John and Marlena; Now Kayla and Steve. They need to FIRE the Whole damn writing crew and Ken Cordy for letting the show go straight to hell…They need to get rid of melaine. The Vets are what keeping people watching days..I guess Bo & Hope will go next..either way I am dropping the show from my list once Kayla & Steve goes..I will be going back to CBS.. I have been a days fan since 1984…Goodbye Days
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
I don’t understand any of it? They wonder why Days is in danger of getting the axe, then they get rid of all the vets from the show, but keep people like Melanie?? It makes no sense! Steve and Kayla were voted best couple in soap polls too! Maybe they’re trying to tank the show.
They are going to lose a LOT of viewers.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
I guess they are getting ready to wrap up Days and call it a “Day.”
Once they start getting rid of the vets, the budget is sliced way below what is required; viewers stop watching; the polls go down; therefore, they can cancel DOOL without any of the writers feeling bad or that they let down the viewers. After all, writers can get a job anywhere.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
way to get me to stop watching after 32 years - get rid of john, marlena, tony, anna (i’m guessing) kayla and steve - i’m guessing bo and hope are next… and why not…. they’vee only held the glue of the store together for the last 2 decades. skip all the young kids - they are boring!
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
It time to get rid of the writers they are doing a awful job they just can’t write anymore keeping them will mean the end of Days. Keep Kyla and Steve and get rid of the writers. I have been watching since the show aired with Alice and Tom Horton lets not kill it after all these years with poor writers.
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 10:02 pm
Wow what a sad way for this show to end if it does like rumors claim in about another year
Really wish instead of cutting the budget by getting rid of the people who made days what it is get rid of some of the others oh wait they make less money so that is why you keep them and get rid of the great ones!
My only wish is that if this show really does get the axe in another year please is it too much to hope that can end with some closure for some of the wonderful character we have watched over the years.
I will not be able to watch anymore if it is only going to be people like Kate-Melonie BARFOLA!- Cloe Lucas bla bla bla they all bore me to no end.
I was thrilled to see Nicole and Cloe come back but then UGH what they did with them yuck
I am ready to be done with Days as now it just does not hold my interest anymore the same stories different day all the time nothing new and fun and different anymore
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Remember when they “fired” all those favorites a long time ago and they all ended up on an “island”? Could they be screwing with us again? Just a thought!
Comment added February 4th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
There’s only so much they can do with the vets. Let’s face it, it may not be a popular decision to let the vets go, but the younger kids are the future of the show. I’m not saying they should get rid of the vets, but there’s only so much you can do with them anyways. Steve & Kayla haven’t done much lately anyways, besides this week. I’m not that broken up about it all, and I’ve been a DOOL fan for many, many years.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 12:11 am
I have watched days since the late 80’s. Patch and Kayla were my world. I have never watched another soap. They take away the vets and cant even put a couple together that belong like Sami and EJ. They jerk us around and around. Iam DONE! Going to find another soap to watch I quess.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 1:01 am
Please re-think the letting go of John, Marlena, Steve & Kayla they really do add to the show. Not sure they are leaving or your are letting them go but not long after they leave your show will start going down hill. You have kept Roman and Carolyn, who certainly don’t add much and brought on Mia who is boring. Hope you change things for the better.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 4:02 am
I have been watching days since the beginning way back when Alice and Tom. Julie and Doug was very young. Saw Susan lose a little boy David when he fell out of a swing. Now you know how long I have been a fan. And I am telling you This is the straw that broke the camel back so to speak. If you have too get rid of someone lose the nut case Meliane
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 4:47 am
The charactors of Melanie and Daniel are a waste of time. You have Chloe portraying a slut. What a waste. Now you are letting the meat and potatoes of the show, namely the vets being let go.The baby switch story has been done too many times.Days of our liives isa totally boring soap right now.BRING BACK THE VETS!!!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 6:13 am
I’M DONE!!
The show has really gotten boring anyway. The story around Nicole and her “baby” is terrible. The story around Sami and Rafe is boring. There really isnt much else going on. So, in the last year we lost Bell and Shawn, Doc and John, Nick and now Patch and Kayla. BYE BYE DOOL!! YOU BORE ME!
A long time fan
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 7:14 am
I am very upset too — I don’t like the young ones…want the veterans. They have lost me as a viewer as well. I guess the producers don’t want people over 50 watching this soap.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 7:31 am
I haven’t bothered tuning into Days since John and Marlena’s departure. Now that Steve,Kayla and Tony are out I definetly will not be coming back anytime soon. I guess this was Day’s plan to lose all there most loyal fans. When John and Marlena are back that is when I will be back.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 7:33 am
Since I haven’t tuned into Days I have been watching All My Children and The Bold and The Beautiful. At least they are keeping the fan faves.

DOOL is the only soap opera that I watch and I have watched it since the early 80’s. Is it just me or is everyone sick and tired of Daniel?? I used to think he was a great looking guy but I can’t hardly look at him anymore. You all are right, too many good actors leaving and bad ones being brought in. It is time for me to exit too!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 9:00 am

I was SO excited when I learned Patch and Kayla were coming back. They weren’t used to their full potential. So many people don’t want to see them go. Get rid of others that aren’t as popular, but keep the fan faves here! Sounds like Days is just giving up to me!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Just pull the plug already and get it over with. First Deidre and Drake, two actors with amazing chemistry. The type you may get once in a lifetime, if you are lucky (and may I say that Days has been EXTREMELY fortunate to have had such a couple for 20 years). Now Mary Beth and Stephen. I think the producers are trying to sabotage the show to ensure these next 18 months will be the last. Good job Corday and company. I think you will succeed.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 9:47 am
With the state of our economy, and people being laid off from work, soaps are a reality release. When the networks take the adventure and add sex…. with the new couples…. who wants to watch. They are trying to make DOOL into the Hills on MTV what a ashame. I too have turned to another soap, I have found Belle and Shawn and I have really enjoyed watching them interact again. I hope Sami will join them and I would not have to watch DOOL anymore.

TIME TO REALLY STOP THE INSANITY AND GIVE DAYS THE ‘HEAVE-HO’ WHAT ARE THE WRITERS THINKING? THAT WE LOVE THE YOUNG,SPOILED KIDS? GET RID OF THEM AND LEAVE THE TRIED AND TRUE CAST ALONE!.IF YOU WANT TO GET RID OF ANYONE..GET RID OF STEPHANIE, MAX, CHELSEA AND MELANIE…PLEASE….THEY REALLY MAKE ME SICK…NO ONE CAN STAND THEM….IN FACT, JUST GET RID OF THE WRITERS AND GET SOME NEW BLOOD IN THE SHOWS’ VEINS, OR IT WILL BE DEAD AS A DOORNAIL BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 10:21 am
WOW I GUESSS NO ONE IS GONNA BE WATCHING ANYMORE. KEEP GETTING RID OF ALL THE VETS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. WHY DON’T U WRITERS GIVE A CRAP WHAT THE VIEWERS THINK. UR SHOW IS GONNA BE OFF PRETTY SOON THEN CUZ NO ONE IS GONNA WATCH ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 10:33 am
I’ve been watching Days since it began. I’m from the old school it it aint broke don’t fix it. I can’t for the life of me understand why your writers yo-yo back and forth so much with all the favorites. I think that getting rid of all the great couples that are on the show, that instead of calling it Days of our Lives, in the beginning of the show we are going to hear like the sands through the hour glass so were the days of our lives. Maybe the writers should take less money and keep the show going the way the fans like it. Seems to me that if we don’t watch you don’t have a show…..or is that the real plan???????
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 10:59 am
After 25 years, I’m done. I’ve removed Days from my automatic recordings as of today. The current story line is anemic and to again rid the show of veteran characters is a travesty. Good-by Days…

They should get rid of Daniel, Melanie, and the writers. Guess I won’t be watching anymore fan of over 25 yrs.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
Why are they getting rid of so many of the great ppl. This show would not be what it is without Steve and Kayla, or John and Marlena, what is going on…you want to save money, kick EJ, Nicole, Steph, Philip, etc off the show, not the ppl that made the show what it is….you are going to upset many many ppl and have less and less viewers each day.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
The problem is also that, at least in my market, there is nothing on NBC during the day worth watching (unless you really like the news). They’re losing viewers left and right for their daytime programming and I’m sure it’s next to impossible to get a decent rate for commercials. Without getting any income from commercials, they don’t have any money to speak of to pay the actors.
Unfortunately, I’m probably done with the show too. I just watched Mon, Tue and Wed episodes back to back and after fast-forwarding through the storys I don’t care for, I think it only took about 50 minutes total for all three shows.
At least their lousy writing is giving me more time to get stuff done around the house.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
This is the final straw. I’ve been watching Days since 1984, but I am done. It no longer has the quality of writing that once made it the great soap that it was. At this point, pull it. I personally think the fans could do a better job of writing than these writers. Life does not consist of only young people, so why would the writers make it all about that age group? Adios Days - I will never watch you again - and that’s a fact!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I have watched Days since it first came on the air. I was in high school and would come home and watch it with my Dad. It was our tv time before he left for work. Those Days are gone as is my desire to stay with the show. I can’t imagine why these super couples are being let go. I agree with many others comments that these core families need to remain. I seriously doubt Days will survive and be on much longer unless they lure completely new fans.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
With Marlena, John, Tony (and Anna), Kayla & Steve leaving/gone you know the rest of the vetrans won’t be far behind, Abe, Lexie, Roman, Stefano, Maggie, Doug, Julie, Bo & Hope will all be gone before the end of summer I’m sure. Guess we should have all seen the writing on the walls when they didn’t have Alice Horton on the Christmas episode. So sad to see TPTB ruin a wonderful mainstay soap. It was fun while it lasted Days, thanks for the memories.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Don’t they know how many fans came back when Steve & Kayla returned?
I even pulled out my old Patch T-shirt I bought way back when. I believe we may be seeing the end of soaps!

I am deeply disapointed with Days. I have incredible memories of the show as I’ve been watching since 1984. However, for quite a while now the show has been heavily focused on transient characters who are not on long enough to really care about while strong longtime interconnected characters are pushed to the back so they begin to feel like strangers. Days has dropped the ball and seems to keep dropping it! Unfortunately they are running out of time to reconsolidate the very foundation which brought people to Days in the first place…. good luck at fixing up your mess Days… I really hope you do, because this travesty of where the show is heading makes me very sad!
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
Everything you all have said is TRUE…..send it to the network. Who reads these blocks but us? We need to seriously flood Corday with mail.

I’ve been watching Days for 42 years and why are you letting some of your best actors go? Are you trying to lose viewers so the show can be cancelled?
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
I really believe they want the show to end. It is either that or the writers are a bunch of twentysomethings that don’t give a care about what viewers what. They are just trying to feed their own egos. Plus I think Chloe and Daniel’s love scenes were just shy of porn. I am sick of seeing that scene. The writers must be getting their kicks replaying. Just shows how immature they are. I hope our favs will go on to other soaps. I know I would watch if they were on them. Goodbye Days…
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
How ridiculous! Getting rid of Stephen & MaryBeth is a huge mistake by the powers that be. Next they’ll get rid of Bo & Hope! So incredibly sad… dumb move, Days. Renegotiate their contracts if you want our continued viewership! Seems of late you’re bringing in younger actors (cheaper), with little to no focus on the established actors (older), leaving long time fans completely disinterested. Please reconsider.
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
They will be back. It’s just a matter of time. Everyone comes back, ummmm, even from the dead (sometimes a few times). So, yah it sucks there writeing the vets off (for now), but I’m sure they will be back…..
And if Maggie dosen’t tell Lucas what Chloe is up to I will be very dissapointed in her. Besides when Sami comes back I think Chloe will be very jealouse and loose intrest in Doc. Dan. But not before Sami finds out whats what.

ALL OF US FANS HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE “ROYAL SCREWING” BY TED CORDAY AND NBC, AND HIS BELOW-PAR WRITING TEAM….IT’S OBVIOUS TO ME THAT NONE OF THEM GIVE A DAMN FOR THEIR FANS, OR THEIR ACTING CAST.
I HAVEN’T BEEN WATCHING SINCE JOHN AND MARLENA GOT THE PERVERBIAL AXE JOB FROM CORDAY VIA A PHONE CALL. IT’S NICE TO READ THAT SUCH A COWARD WOULD DO THAT AND NOT FACE TO FACE. WITH SUCH A LACK OF JUDGEMENT ON CORDAY’S PART, IT’S NO WONDER THIS SHOW IS IN THE TOILET. THANKS FOR LISTENING TO YOUR FANS, CORDAY…SEE YOU IN THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE, A-HOLE!!!

Letting John & Marlena go was not good, but Steve and Kayla Wow what a mistake!!! Kayla makes a great hospital director and Steve should join the PD and get the story lines going with Bo & Steve again. Daniel has got to go, that character is AWFUL!! I know you need young people but you still need the adults.

Thanks for ruining the only down time that I have when I come home from work. I love to watch Days and get involved with their families. I have been watching Days for 28 years. I have never missed one day. How dare you take all the veterans (who made this show what it is) off the air. Kayla and Steve were my favorite couple. Get a life Corday and stop ruining it for the fans. We are the ones who actually gives you your paycheck if you look at it.Someone needs to axe you from writing and put someone in there that knows what they are doing and listen to the fans for once.

Ken Corday does not make any sense. The show is going down like a lead balloon, what are they thinking?? Unless its a replay of melaswen where they are all at waiting for sweeps, I hope that is the case!!!!!

What the heck is wrong with the execs on the show. They are getting rid of all the cast that keep us watching. Wake up DOOL, I guess I will finally make the switch and watch General Hospital where the rest of the Days Alumn are! Dumb move!!!!!

This has become the nichole and ej show how totally boring I am giving until the end of feb and if they don’t give sami her baby back or at least on the way to that. the only people that have family on the show anymore are the bad guys the kiriakasa’s and the dimera’s days was always about the true love conquring all now the only story line that there is chloe being a hoe and nichole being a freak
Comment added February 5th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
I am actually happy that they are gone. John and Marlena, not so much. I really want Roman, Maggie, & Daniel out of the show. I also dislike Abe and Lexie and their retarded son more and more each day.

I’m very disappointed we just got Kayla and Steve back. They both are wonderful and now for them to leave is just ridiculous. The story lines going on now make no sense and it’s just plain boring. I will go back to GH.

I have watched Days for 44 yrs. and this is the last straw. Fire - Hire back - Fire again!!! Enough is enough! Soon there will be nothing but ‘kids’ with who’s sleeping with who story lines. What happened to at least ONE happy couple - there ARE some in Real Life why not on the soap?

I am disappointed in the writers of Days. I have watched the show for 25 years. However I have stopped watching and only ready the recaps. When will the writers get it that people dont care about new characters with old story lines. Cancel the show already. Be done with it. At least when Passions was cancelled they gave the fans what they wanted.

It’s called all about the money, not
looking at the big picture of what the
fans want, or the fact they will lose
viewers! I’m also gone as a viewer who
has watched for over 20yrs.

I have watched Days since 1976 when it was still only a half hour show. What is wrong with these writers getting rid of all of the major characters that keep people watching? No one wants to see these new people (no offense to them). They have brought in so many new characters I can’t even keep track of who they are. You are making a huge mistake of getting rid of our beloved Marlena and John, now Kayla and Steve, and Tony. No wonder your fans are leaving in droves. We need back the tradition that is Days of our Lives. Doug, Julie, Maggie, Mickey, Hope, Bo, Marlena, John, Stefano, Tony. We need the old Days of our Lives back with the above mentioned characters. The storylines sometimes don’t even make sense. All of the writers should be fired and get someone who knows the Days history to come back and write some good storylines! A former viewer sorry to say!!!

I just got a DVR so I record DOOL. Nowadays, I fast forward through most of it. I wasn’t a fan of Steve and Karla, but John and Doc, were favs. The thing is, we “old” fans like familiarity. And we don’t have any these days.
Tell Dr. Jonas to get a life or stay in the operating room where he can do some good.

I can’t believe the huge mistake you are making with the firing of Drake, Diedre, Mary Beth, Stephen and Thaao from the show. I’ve watched since 1968 and what you’ve done to the show lately is a disgrace. Half of the “new generation” can’t act worth a darn, especially the one playing Melanie. I fast forward through her boring, whining dialog. I maybe watch it on Fridays or a Monday now that John and Marlena are gone but if Bo and Hope go, it’s goodbye Days!
Comment added February 6th, 2009 at 7:25 am
I can’t believe what is happening! These writers are horrible. Steve and Kayla were never used to their potential and my favorite, Hope, hasn’t had a good storyline since her gina days/zack’s death. My friend, Corrine, used to tape days everyday and we would watch together and have a great time. It was a great escape for her since she was confined to her bed due to multiple sclerosis. She is in heaven now and I miss the good old days. Watching days still makes me feel like a part of her is here with me like the old times. I still tape the show daily, but I am beginning to think I am wasting my time. I just find myself fast-forwarding most of it now. The writers seem to not care about days history or the fans that watch and have fond memories watching days with a loved one for an escape from reality. I really can’t understand why NBC lets this happen. I understand budgets, but days is NBC’s only soap. ABC should take over days and give it the respect and writers it deserves. Days has (well had) some of the most beautiful/handsome and best actors on soaps. With such a rich history, why can’t the writers come up with anything good? Any of us on here could be a better writer for the show. So sad. I will still dvr the show and see how it goes. But if Hope leaves then forget it. Get a clue head honcho’s and stop not caring. Every web site that has comments about days, they are all negative. How can they be oblivious to this. They must not care! At least last time vets were being writtten off they ended up on melaswen. Come one writers use your imaginations and show that you care to do something amazing. Its never too late ,but it is so close I’m afraid a great show will die without dignity. What a disservice to loyal viewers and a talented cast.
Comment added February 6th, 2009 at 7:25 am
Well, I think that pretty much does it. What the heck is going on anyway. These new people that are getting contracts just stink if you ask me. The story lines are boreing, I mean come on, Nicole and EJ….paleeeze. The writers need to re-think what they are doing cause actually in my opinion (and everyone has an opinion) the show is just not interesting. I can watch the show once a week and get the jist of everything that’s going on. I think my soap days are over!!!!!
Comment added February 6th, 2009 at 9:16 am
What a pity but remember Days was only renewed for 18 months. Maybe our veteran actors can get jobs on other Soaps on other networks and we can tune in to see them.
This is the way the writers are easing us into the cancellation of Days (yeah right) like they care about the viewers.
Comment added February 6th, 2009 at 9:18 am
It’s about time they got rid of these two. They have hardly been on or involved in any important story lines since their pointless return!!

KEN CORDAY - THANKS FOR KILLING DAYS. YOUR MOTHER WOULD BE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SHOW AS IT IS TODAY. IT STINKS. I HAVE WATCHED DAYS SINCE DAY 1 AND NONE OF THESE PEOPLE ARE WORTH WATCHING - MELANIE, WHO IS A DUD, MAX, CHELSEA, CHLOE, DANIEL (THIS PAIR’S LOVE SCENES ARE JUST SHORT OF PORN), LUCAS, KATE, BRADY, ETC. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU NEED TO GET RID OF - NOT MARY BETH & STEVE AND DEIDRE AND DRAKE. THESE ARE CORE COUPLES THAT MADE THIS SHOW A SUCCESS FOR SO LONG AND NONE OF THESE PEOPLE CAN LICK THEIR BOOTS. WHEN WILL KRISTEN & PETER BE LET GO? THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES LEFT, BUT WHO WILL THEY ACT WITH. BO’S SISTER AND BROTHER (JOHN) WILL BE GONE AND HOPE HAS NO BROTHERS OR SISTERS AND STEPH WILL HAVE NO ONE EITHER. HER PARENTS AND BROTHER WILL BE GONE. PLEASE GET RID OF MOST OF THESE YOUNG PEOPLE OR YOU WON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR NEXT RENEWAL - YOU’LL BE CANCELLED AND RIGHTFULLY SO. WAKE UP! YOU HAVE LOST HOW MANY FANS BY THESE LAST 2 FIRINGS. I’M DONE AND EVERYONE I TALK WITH ARE TOO. DAYS HAS HAD A GOOD RUN, BUT IT WILL SOON BE OVER BY YOUR STUPID ACTIONS.

I’ve watched Days from the beginning. So has my mother. This is it, we both give up. What are they thinking? I know it’s a money issue, but fire 5-8 newbies and keep the super-couples. This is outrageous. Good Luck to the actors, they will need it.

Days why why why? Are these vets making too much $$$? Then stop bringing in all these crappy people no one cares about and keep the vets!!!! You are upsetting long time viewers (20 + years) I started watching as a little girl with my maw maw and have become a true fan. But you will lose your true fans, not to mention ratings if you proceed like this! Do you want to end up off the air because people get fed up and start watching a new soap? I hear Young and the Restless is pretty good–maybe I’ll give that a try!

I am an old fan of the show. It’s what I look forward to watching when I get home from work to unwind. Started watching in the 70’s. Can not believe how they are losing their fan base. This seems to be typical, trying to pull only young viewers. To remain upfront you have to be diverse. They are making huge mistakes!!!!!

Hey, All of you, they wont care what we write in here, it is all about the money, so they fire whom ever they want, only the ones we want. I have been watching for over 25yrs and I am waiting for the other shoe to fall. If Bo and Hope go I am done. I loved John and Marlena and Steve and Kayla. I am just as pissed as you all are.
But they dont really care what we want, its all about them. I cant stand Melanie, why dont they fire her.

I can’t believe it and I can’t take anymore of this. Days got me through some really rough times in my life. I feel like I’m losing a member of my family. Why can they not understand that the basis for a story does not have to be about people barely out of diapers. Older people can and do have fulfilling, exciting lives. When I was growing up, I started listening to soaps on the radio and followed them to tv. The basis for all of them was a mature adult family with the childen having roles that did not exclude those of us that appreciate a more mature life. I was thrilled when Patch and Kayla came back and
Tony is great, but the writers’ have given them nothing to work with. I think the powers that be have given instructions to slowly destroy the show so we will be weaned off when the ax falls! Shame on you for this kind of treatment for your loyal fans!

I think I have to let go of DOL. I am so disapponted with the show. I record it everyday (DVR) and watch it on he weekends. It takes my about an hour to get through the entire week. I skip though most of it. And not that John & Marlena are gone, it looks like it will tae me even less time. I have been very disappointed with Steve & Kayla’s story line. It as such a waste of talent. John & Marlena were “DOL” how do the writers expect the fans to continue watching? I totally understand the need to bring in new peoples, I mean after all you can only cross over families so much until it gets creepy (i.e. Max & Steph…always thought it was wierd). If they need budget cuts here are my thoughts, get rid of Melonie, Chloe, Dr. Dan & I hate to say it but Lucas and Stehanie. In any event, I am deeply saddened to see DOL end up like this. I will try to remember the good old days.

Will they please just go ahead and admit they are cancelling the show? Absolutely no one is going to bother watching Philip, Melanie, Chloe, and Daniel day in and day out. Steve and Kayla are my all-time favorite couple…and ever since steve’s “death” in the early 90s, I’ve been wanting to see him return and to have that mysterious coffin switch explained. Well, he returned…but the storyline was CRAP…they had a chance to do something huge with one of their most popular couples ever returning, yet it fizzled. Stefano had steve…wow, how original and thrilling. Nothing was really explained and then they went right into the Mia storyline, which was awful. It’s well documented these two vets didn’t get squat to work with storyline wise. And then they get rid of John and Marlena in one of the crappiest sendoffs I’ve ever seen…and steve/kayla won’t even get a sendoff. Good grief…i’ve watched since 1985, but put a fork in this one. Bo and Hope will obviously be next before long and then they will officially have 0 supercouples…NOTHING that made the show great. Maybe Daniel can just hump everything that moves for the last few episodes and turn the lights out when he’s done.
Comment added February 7th, 2009 at 1:57 am
Ever since John/Marlena left the storylines are…. well, crap! I’ve watched for so many years, recording while I’m working or away and watching asap. Now I’m LOOKING for a reason to keep watching & not finding one. WHO’S THE IDIOT WHO CAN’T WRITE FOR VETS & mix it up w/the new crowd?? Hogan and his team did a better job! Now don’t get me wrong, I love the actors and they are doing a wonderful job w/ what they have to work with but we just went through this not too long ago - suffering through failed writing and storylines…. Get a grip and keep Steve/Kayla Say buh bye to Melanie, Victor, Kate. Write off the vets…write off the show. You all might have a New DAys, but the core of your fans are OUTTA HERE!! Without us you have no show…. Tighten your belts from the top down….that means you KEN CORDAY & WRITERS. Get a grip or be one!!!

Well Ken Corday and Writers looks like your losing a show that was once looked at as amazing to which has gone to what a JOKE!!! I turned on the tv the other day and started to laugh as I wondered if I was watching Passions which I hated or a bad version of an episode of 90210 with all the joke storylines you have going on now. You burn your bridges and there is no going back. I know so many fans that have stopped watching and I’m sure the ratings will start showing the effect all the bad writing is having on the show and letting go key actors will in return show once a show that had dignity has nothing at all…….The channel has been switched Ken!!!!!!!!
Comment added February 7th, 2009 at 7:53 am
Well this show must be coming to an end soon
The only vets are Bo & Hope
Victor & Carolina
Stephano & Kate (You should put them together and send them off the show
I was enjoying the scenes with Kayla and Steve they where definetly one of the best couples
The other one that should leave asap is Nicole once she finally gets caught
Lucas once he is dumped again send him away
Why the vets ????????????????

Well, after 42 years I think I may actually be done with Day’s also. Sad, that this great show with a fantastic cast has had to die such a painful and undignified death.
This show cannot survive with just the “young” cast, it’s always been about family and strentgh with the central core being The Hortons with Alice and Tom at the helm. Well, they’re never even mentioned anymore and I’m wondering are there actually any “real” Hortons left? Oh, wait… theres Hope but with the way they keep dropping veteran actors from the show I expect Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso will be the next to exit.
I am truly disgusted and disappointed with the producers, writers and executives at NBC who have allowed this to happen.

Well, add me to the list. I have been watching since day 1. I started watching when my nana came to live with us when I was in school. I watched all through college, marriage, raising my son and still watch. I don’t mind the new characters and understand about bring new story lines, but there is such an affection I feel for Alice, Doug, Julie and the other super couples that have been on for so long. Isn’t that what soap operas are all about? People have to feel that connection to the characters and that history over the years of watching cements that connection. Without it, there is no loyal viewer. Let’s face it, some (okay, most) of the story lines are pretty lame, it is the characters that keep us coming back. Especially in these difficult times these days, I feel the writters are missing the boat. People are looking for that escape. They want to see some happy, well adjusted people living life. With just the teenage and young adult story lines there just isn’t enough “meat and potatoes” so to speak. As for me, I like Chelsea and how they changed her character as she matured. I think they need to give Roman a story line. I think the writers need to go back to the basics and really think about why it is people watch soap operas? I don’t know about anyone else on these boards, but reality TV is getting old. Don’t get me wrong, I like DWTS and AI but all these other shows I can’t watch. I want some pure escapism and that is always what DOOL was for me. Please bring back the characters we care about, the families and yes, introduce younger characters and new story lines, but don’t forget your fan’s history with these great characters. I have to say, DOOL is the only soap I have ever watched but if I knew John and Marlena would be together on another soap (or Patch and Kayla) I know I would be tempted to check it out!

I have been a days fan for over 20 years. It’s time I make my exit. Storylines have become so far fetched (Nicole getting Sami’s baby was the worst)and veterans being cut. Some of the filler characters on this show should be the ones getting cut. Lucas… what does he do? Melanie… cute but dumb (and in the corporate world???)… lemme guess, she’ll end up with Will who has been recast-or maybe Dr. Dan???? Mixing up the show is one thing, getting rid of fan favorites is viewer-suicide. Good bye to John and Marlena, Patch and Kayla, Austin and Carrie… and good bye to me. I’m outta here!

I have been watching DOOL since it began. Like everyone says, they need to keep the core families. What good is it to have a soap opera with just young people? Who wants to watch a soap with teens and no adults? I had been wondering where Anna was and even though I hadn’t read about it when I heard that they wanted to ship John over to Europe to get help I thought something was fishy. Now Kayla and Steve. Love love love Steve (Patch) and Bo and Hope. Oh come on. Wish some of the writers would read these comments to see what the viewers would like to see. They’ll be “talking” to all these characters on the phone like they do to everyone else that has left. Maybe bring Sammy’s brother into the show. Have we ever seen him since he was born? I was hoping to see Alice at Christmas time even though she would just be sitting in a chair. I guess she wasn’t feeling up to it. She is still alive right? Whatever happened to Johns company? Wasn’t Kate helping to run it? Next time we see Bo and Hope’s little girl she will be getting married. I guess I’ll just record the show and FF through it and probably watch it in 20 min. or less. What a shame.
Comment added February 7th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Days needs to get their heads out of their butts!!!! You are letting the wrong people go. I never cared for Marlena anyway so good riddens, but the new John was funny. Kayla and Patch, how many years did we beg for them to come back. Get rid of Melanie, she is a whiner. You keep getting rid of the older people, who are Bo and Hope going to talk to? Days ever gets rid of them they might as well kiss their show goodbye and if they don’t quit getting rid of the good ones, they might as well start kissing.

Someone mentioned that its possible that all the vets will be back again. If that is true I am sorry to say most viewers won’t be coming back. We are sick of being jerked around. I think Corday has lost sight that it was these veteran actors and the viewers who made the show popular and were the ones responsible for him to earn a
living. Maybe he is just bored of the show and wants to move on to something new. If that is a case he is breaking a lot of people’s hearts doing it. I know it is only a show but it has become a part of our lives and I am going to miss it.

Ol my god, what is happening on Days. I have watched it for years and can’t believe the changes now. I mean why are the good people leaving the show and not the ones that are not on it that much or even that good of acting (sorry). I mean, if the show is doing bad and may go off the air, why take the main characters? They will go to another show and be lost to days for ever. They just need new story plots. I mean the baby thing isn’t such a good idea. Really the whole time stepheno has been on the show, he knows everything. Why not now. And EJ is being played now and a stupid man and we all know he isn’t. I mean in real life a man wants to feel a baby move and he didn’t even seem interested at all. But enough of that story. Why are they having Bo have visions? Thats not even good right now. I mean the writers need to think of something more interesting and if they need to take people off the show, take lexie. She is so boring and and the story of her son really isn’t going anywhere. Take them off the air instead of Kayla and Steve. Days isn’t days without John and Marlana. They need to come back along with Jen the mad woman. I mean some mean characters would be nice and exciting for the show instead of the story lines they have now. There is nothing good about it now to make me want to watch it.

If you think the magic is gone from the older actors, ever heard of the the saying an actor is only as good as their material? Steve and Kayla were magic in the 80’s because the writing was outstanding. Honestly, as wonderful as they still are, they were given NOTHING to work with. It saddens me so much, as a viewer of 25 yrs, there is absolutely nothing that holds me to this show anymore. First my favorites, Jack and Jennifer, then John and Marlena, but Steve and Kayla is the last straw!!! I am so done with you, Days…..bye-bye…

FIRE THE WRITERS! They only seem to be able to write bad/mean things, there is no creativity there! They are incompentent and if they had a clue they would understand that it is not the teenagers buying what is being advertised during these commercials but older women. These commercials are aimed at us also not high school teenagers. So if these writers had HALF A BRAIN they would be true to days & not throw evil into every segment.
FIRE THE WRITERS

FIRE THESE WRITERS! Who do they think helps them get viewers? Word of mouth, OUR MOUTH! Conversations with our families, friends and coworkers. If we are not happy then, IF we do talk about it, we are not going to talk positively about the shows and its writers. THESE WRITERS ARE TOTALLY WALL STREET MORONS! THEY JUST DON’T GET IT! FIRE THESE WRITERS

FIRE THESE WRITERS,& Bring back John, Marlena & Keep Kayla & Steve. Kill off Melanie, Kate, Nicole. Have Max, Daniel leave. Have Will come and go & Chloe get back with Brady. GIVE SAMMI HER BABY BACK! FIRE THESE WRITERS

I am a new viewer I am 20 years old and I like may others had more fun watching the super couples John and Marlena were my favourites and after they left I stoped watching but I liked Kayla and Patch and watched a few episodes that included them. If they want to keep young fans they have to bring back the super couples (more fun to watch because the actors stay together more than 5 mins DR DAN IS GROSS), fire the writters cause I think I am watching something a 2 yr old wrote and stop making my generation appear to be driven by something ONLY sex that don’t believe in relationships!

What is wrong with Ken Corday? Is he losing his mind? Is he tired of DOOL and is purposely sabatoging it by letting all the favorite characters who mean everything to “Salem” go. If thats the case why doesn’t he let it go with dignity and keep the people who mean something to the show and just let it be cancelled with the characters we have watched for so many years. This man is really running this show into the ground. Bringing in all these new “kids on the block” mean nothing to us. Will someone tell this man he is destroying what his parents worked for so many years. There is nothing that interest me with DOOL without the characters who made this show a hit so many years ago. DOOL may you rest in peace.

I don’t even watch this show anymore. It’s too bad, since I watched this show for as long as I can remember. Stupid storylines. Letting vets go, who have the history of DOOL behind them. All these young kids - like whining Melanie. The show is going down the tubes, and soon, NBC will let this soap die as well. Get out now, die a decent death. Me - I am an ABC viewer now. Thanks - writers and PTB!!!

i am glad that john and marlena are gone. i liked “bad” john the other was sickening. too bad about kala & steve but sadly no real story line for them. bo & hope need to go to. the characters are tired and worn out. bo in a suit & tie makes me laugh.
i do like tony and i hope he exposes nicole for the nasty white ttrash she is.

I believe that Steve and Kayla have not had a fair chance due to poor writing. How awesome they used to be. They are why I fell in love with the show. Now they are kind of boring to watch. You are firing the wrong people. Let the great actors with good chemestry continue. Fire the writers that are lowering the ratings. And frankly Chloe and Melanie can go too! What about Kate she does nothing get rid of her…And Roman…I just fast forward through them to get to the scenes with the GOOD characters. There will not be any left. Get better writers and ratings will soar! KEEP THE VETS!!! The new generation needs good role models and parents!
Comment added February 9th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Better scripts is the key!!!! Also, PLEASE fire the CUSSING!!! I usually have kids near and where I understand the rating is 14 and there is sex portrayed, the cussing must be what goes!!! Keep the actors, bring back comedy (I used to laugh constantly…), find new writers, and make the cussing disappear!

This show can shove it, I am so sick of them getting rid of all the Veterans. First John and Marlena and now Steve and Kayla and even Tony? SERIOUSLY? What the hell are the writers thinking?!! I was such a fan for so long, and now I can’t stand to watch it because of what its become and the people they have been letting go
GOODBYE DAYS, IT WAS NICE WATCHING YOU!

i use to love dool. i haven’t watched it for a couple years and it makes me sick what the show has become. you get rid of the older characters who made the show great. the newbies are just horrible and dumb. i try to watch the show to see what it has become and wow it is a bad show.
Comment added February 10th, 2009 at 6:44 am
Fire these writers….this has to be the worst decisions I have ever seen! I have watched for 25 years but I stopped when John and Marlena left. I checked the blog hoping for good news that they might have been rehired. But instead find out this!!!!!!! I remember the good Days when Kayla and “Patch” were heating up the screen with “Lady in Red” playing in the background! But lets face it Days is on a spiral downhill. More actors keep showing up that were on Passions and they keep firing our vets! Do they not remember that Passions was canceled! Please somebody wake up and save our soap! Do they not realize without fans this show will cancel!!!!!!!! Why aren’t they listening to us??????
Comment added February 10th, 2009 at 7:02 am
If they are so interested in firing vets…how about Abe and Lexie. They are soooo boring. If I hear her say “my little boy” one more time I’m going to scream. But for real, perhaps new writers are needed because the characters are not at fault for their scripts. Max, Chelsea and Brady are useless. Get rid of them and write some good stuff for the vets.

I have been watching Days for 28 years and this show has been through a lot of changes. I can no longer support this show. I am livid!!! How dare they do this to their loyal viewers. Why don’t they get rid of the characters we don’t care about. Example Melanie and others. This is a huge slap in the face!!!! They should just end the show.
Comment added February 10th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Agree with what everyone has to say - DOOL needs new writers. This is the final straw, will not watch any more after 25 years. My lament - it could have been so good - it has been before!
Comment added February 10th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
I have watched Days for so many years and of course have becomes attached to all the great couples. John and Marlena have always been one of my favorites! And I was so happy to see Steve and Kayla return after so long to see them go again already. It doesn’t make sense. The writers have had some great storylines over many years with these characters so what is the problem now? There are plenty of ways to give these characters more love, drama and action that keeps us all watching!

I watched days with my mother from the first episode. I have watched people come and go and come again. I have been a faithful viewer, but, the writers don’t care about faithful viewers. Teenagers don’t care about Days, they have too much going on with Ipods, computers, games, etc. They don’t watch soap operas, so why try to cater to the younger crowd. I was very upset when you let John and Marlena go, now you’re getting rid of Steve and Kayla and rumors are that Hope will be leaving. I know you could care less about one persons opinion, but I will not longer be watching Days. If you’re trying to get it off the air, I think you may succeed. The younger watchers are not going to stay loyal fans like your older generation has. Goodbye to my “second family” in Salem. I will miss you much.

This is the ONLY soap I watch! Been watching since it began and now it’s making me sick to my stomach! What they need is NEW writers or bring the old one’s back. Like everything else this soap has been turning into another sleezy teenie bopper sex soap. No morals, all of what what a wholesome show has been down the drain into the sewer. Isn’t there enough of that in REAL life without portraying it over and over again on day time tv? I think they should try leading in a better direction than following all the slut shows that already fill the air! There are a lot of Baby Boomers out here who have stood by Days for many years and loved tuning in every day but I bet the majority of them now are going to tune out!! I know I am.
Comment added February 12th, 2009 at 7:49 am
I like alot of other have been watching the show for years. I agree with everyone else I don’t think they should be getting rid of the vets. Maybe they should hirer some writers who can write a show that everyone would enjoy watching. Melanie, Daniel, Chloe, Lucas, Nichol, not that they are bad characters they just have bad writers. Keep the vets. Keep the newbies. Get some writers that will make all the Days fans proud to watch.
Comment added February 12th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Do the execs at Days even see these comments as well as the over 1,000 comments regarding John and Marlena being let go????
I don’t think they care that they will be losing thousands of loyal viewers. But maybe when the show ends (and it will) they will be “let go” too! I’M DONE WITH DOOL’S. So many wonderful actors/actresses are being let go and being replaced by these teeny boppers who nobody cares about.

Its really a shame to see a great soap opera like DOOL be regressing like it is. Getting rid of all the old characters and replacing them with new ones we dont know or relate a story to is going to make the viewer audience decline. I have watched DOOL for a long long time and have enjoyed going thru the Days of the lives of all the key actors. Wish there was a way the writers could keep those story lines going on.

HOW I LONG FOR THE EARLY DAYS OF ALL MY FAVORITE SUPERCOUPLES AND THE STORYLINES THAT INVOLVED EVERYONE SEPARATELY BUT CULMINATED TOGETHER AT THE END LIKE PIECES OF A PUZZLE COMING TOGETHER. I THOUGHT THEY WERE HEADING BACK TO THE GLORY DAYS WHEN THEY BROUGHT STEVE AND KAYLA BACK. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. I AM SAD THAT THEY HAVE DESTROYED A SHOW THAT WAS SO ENTERTAINING AND SUCH AN ELABORATE ESCAPE FROM REALITY. I FEAR THE SHOW WILL NOT BE AROUND MUCH LONGER AT THE RATE ITS GOING.

Hey writers……do you even care that you are going to end up writing for NO ONE…..because after being a FAITHFUL DOOL fan since the early 70’s (and after reading all the UNHAPPY comments!), I think you should hang it up and get rid of yourselves….I’m so done and it’s a shame because it WAS good.

I have watched Days of Our Lives since it was first televised. They have ruined this show as far as I’m concerned. They have taken away all the stars that made this show what it is. I have been getting more and more disgusted with them letting go of the main characters now after Marlena & John and Kayla & Patch I have watched my last episode. Thanks for freeing up my afternoons that I have spend for years watching your show. I know I am going to miss the show but it isn’t the same show anymore so I guess I can deal with it. Another lost Days fan.

I would write to Corday if I thought it would make a difference. He must know we are incensed. You can scale things back and still have quality. This has been scalding and for someone who says he listens to the fans, needs to figure it out sooner rather than later. They have put the veterans to the back for a long time and now are saying we still have Caroline and Maggie, Bo and Hope and that they haven’t let all the veterans go. Something is terribly wrong with all this and I just have to let it go. I can’t stay with a show that has insipid writing and acting. My Days are done and I am sad that I really mean it.
Comment added February 15th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
When Steve and Kayla returned, I thought alright! maybe they will end up in some exotic place with John & Marlena as well as Bo & Hope, sorta like they did years ago. The storylines then were very exciting and romantic. But now that they are getting rid of all the veteren actors, I don’t know if the show will survive. It certainly won’t be exciting once their all gone and even if they plan to bring them back later, it may get cancelled before that can even happen. I think we all need to write in!!

Good Bye To Days Of Our Lives! I Love you all, from Kayla, Steve, John,Marlena, Bo and Hope. Writers
And the Corday people get out now.
It’s a shame to have gone this long and leave it with untalented actors and the unbelieveable writers, that have done nothing for the show. See ya! SO VERY SAD.

But then again it’s about the bottem dollar, right Mr Corday? We really don’t matter anyway ! It;s funny you can’t find any great actors anymore and great writers and companys that listen to the people that give you ratings. Who cares anymore, no one! I’m done!

The firing of Kayla & Patch is the latest BAD move by corday and the terrible writers. I am an ex- viewer and hope the show is cancelled, due to poor stories and horrible new actors. Get rid of Daniel, Melanie, Phillip, EJ all the DeMeras and their insignificant others and all the babies. It was a great show.
Comment added February 16th, 2009 at 10:17 am
For heaven’s sake, get rid of that stupid ridiculous Melanie. When she does that smile with all of those teeth, I could just slap her face. I usually fast forward when she is on screen. I can’t stand her.
DOOL’s has put these terrible actors on and have gotten rid of the actor’s who made DOOL’s the great show it is, or should I say was. Another Baby-Swap! Oh my God. I think everyone who lives in Salem has had their babies swapped for other babies. Have the writers just run out of ideas. Could this storyline with that stupid Nicole faking pregnancy, etc. be any more lame? Is EJ that stupid? Leave Steve & Kayla, Tony, on the show, and get rid of those other can’t-act characters. Bring back John & Marlena. These characters are the back-bone of Days. Getting rid of them is just plain bad decisions. Give them all good stories like the old days when there were really cool mysteries, instead of switching babies.
I apolygize for babbling, but I am so mad that Days has treated these excellent actors like dirt and replacing them with bad actors who just stand around and take up space.
Comment added February 16th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
I used to love Patch and Kayla in the 80’s. They were boring this time around. They didn’t have any storyline. They could keep Steve around - he is much more interesting than the two together.
Comment added February 16th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
We could definitely do without all the babies. There are too many on the show conceived from one night of hitting the sheets. What are the odds! Pretty stupid. All these babies with Sami are ridiculous. She has never been interesting and yet they keep giving her gobs of airtime. Must be related to someone there.
Comment added February 16th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
This is heartbreaking news! Steve and Kayla are such an exciting, lovable couple - so much talent let go by not renewing their contracts. What in the world is happening to “Days”?? Is this a direct result of the economic times or is it because the producers want an entire cast of younger actors? I wish someone with some authority in that business could answer. I feel like my favorite time of the day (watching “Days” from 100-200pm, with my feet up, my mind clear, my entire being in a relaxed state of escape) has been stolen. Please bring our Kayla, Patch, John, and Marlena back. They were the backbone of the show - your team of writers can surely create a wonderful, new adventure for them.
Comment added February 17th, 2009 at 11:09 am
Well, I like the new people. They just need better writing. I do like the old supercouples but at some point they have to have new people young supercouples. They need to bring more people on that is NOT a Brady or a Horton. I have that Kayla and Steve are leaving. But they weren’t doing anything on the show. The Bo and Hope storyline is stupid. Hope is acting stupid. Now the vision thing with Bo they could have done more with that. But what Hope is doing is stupid…

REALLY??! JUST SAVE US ALL NOW AND PULL THE PLUG! CORDAY YOU HAVE RUINED WHAT WAS ONCE AN EXCELLENT DAYTIME DRAMA. BUT THAT WAS LAST IN THE EARLY 90′S…when NBC DECIDES TO AXE THE SHOW I AT LEAST HOPE THERE’S A REUNION SHOW/SPECIAL TO GIVE US ONE LAST FINAL MEMORY. YOU PTB SUCK OVER THERE!
Comment added February 17th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
Since the only reason I watch DOOL is to see Patch and Kayla, I guess I will have more time in my day to do something else. If they are gone I don’t feel the need to watch anymore. The whole show has gotten so stupid. If you take a peek at the other soaps, DOOL is a joke compared to them. Good Job Patch!!!
Comment added February 18th, 2009 at 8:59 am
The writers need to look at the shows that are working and come up with better story lines. They need the mixture of young & old. Getting rid of all the Vets won’t give them the results they want. The Vets have carried the show & you will loose the viewers that have been watching for years. Now you can watch once a month and know what is going to happen in the next month. What are they thinking. Great actors storylines need help big time.

Hmmm. I have been watching the show since the early ’90’s and Patch/Kayla were already gone and stayed that way until relatively recently. I can live without them. At least I don’t have to hear Stephanie say “Papa” any more.
Also, I think Days can survive without its so-called “supercouples” right now. Soaps aren’t about the characters living happily ever after, so it’s good to get things shaken up.

I have been watching DOOL since 1972. I dont like the direction of the show. I have always recorded the program so I could watch it. I read John & Marlena are coming back in May. I hope so. I always liked John & IssyB together. Dr. Dan has slept with everyone on the show, but Maggie…lol Who knows, she may be next to shut her up. Today was one of the best shows in months, but I hate Nicole, and hope she is the next victim on the show. I think the Will, Mia storyline could be good. I hope Lucas goes off the wagon, and gets nasty. He has been screwed over by all the ladies. Leave Bo & Hope alone. Let Victor & Stefano go at it over Kate.

I STARTED WATCHING AGAIN ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO BUT IT IS TIME TO LEAVE FOR GOOD.THE ONLY PEOPLE WORTH WATCHING IS SAMMI,EJ AND NICOLE. BUT THEY HAVE A BORING OVERDONE STORY LINE. I KNOW IT WILL BOTHER ME WHEN IT IS CANCELLED BUT THE WRITERS ARE THE WORST THEY HAVE EVER HAD.

Let’s face it I was excited when they were coming back and this whole time I have been waiting for them to do something with them and they haven’t. I guess if they are not going to then they should just let them go. I hate the new stories and stopped watching it. I get on the website once a week and read the spoilers and recaps. Maybe I watch for 1/2 hr of one show a week and it is just the same crap on a different day and turn it off. I have to agree with the others that during the writer’s strike I could not wait for the next show to come on because they were the best they had been in a long time. You could tell when the writer’s were back because it changed back to crap and I think of these poor actors that could do such a good job if they just had good writers.

So let me get this straight, DOOL is fighting for ratings and they think getting rid of the most popular characters and the better actors is the way to go???
Sorry but I don’t want to watch Lucas/Chloe/Kate/Philip, etc. because they are BOOORING! I won’t even mention that loser doctor-pervert who can’t keep his hands off anyone and his lame over-acting angst.
These amateurs can’t even hold a cue card for talents like Stephen Nichols and Thaao Penghlis.
Also, no one cares about Sami & Rafe, either. Nicole’s storyline is absolutely pathetic and unwatchable anymore. You had a good thing going with the miscarriage story but blew it. You could have shown how EJ and Nikki would deal with it but instead you chose to do something stupid with it.
You want to cut salary? Get rid of those lame-o storylines and bad actors and keep a smaller, BETTER cast that fans actually WANT to watch. QUALITY >>> quantity.

When you realize that the ONLY time Days was at the top of the ratings heap was the week Steve and Kayla got married the first time, it makes you wonder how Days got here and could treat their long-time viewers this way…It’s a real shame…

Wow, first John & Marlena, then Bo and Hope split up over something so stupid, now we lose Steve and Kayla in such a shoddy way. I have watched Days for at least 30 years now. They used to have the best storylines, I miss them. My favortie is Steve and Kayla getting married on the boat, signing their vows. The bad boy and the good girl, coming together. Bringing out the best in each other, the storyline was strong and well written. Sadly for me this is the end of Days. I just can’t bring myself to give up an hour of my day any longer to a Soap Opera that doesn’t deliver on the storylines and doesn’t care about it’s fans.

I haven’t watched Days in a while but I can see by what i’m reading and what i’ve read I won’t be bothering to start watching again. No Marlena , John , Tony , Patch and Kayla? I don’t know what’s been going on but I know I won’t be bothering to find out now. Those people made the show as far as i’m concerned. Sorry , Days I won’t bother coming back .

Well if they leave Kayla in the hospital without an exit all I’ll think about is Don Craig going up to the attic and never coming down. Steve will be the eternal visitor and where will baby Joe be?

Do the people who run the show ever listen to the people who watch the soap on a daily basis? I am sick and tired of them making the decisions for the fans! Every show needs a family for it’s back-bone hence Horton/Brady. It’s bad enough Mrs. Horton is no longer active…but John and Marlena? I watched them go through the same old same old over the years and I have loved it. I loved it when Steve and Kayla came back. If this soap goes down the tube, they can blame themselves! I have watched since 1972 and I am ready to throw in the towel!
Comment added February 23rd, 2009 at 12:33 pm
They are getting rid of the people we look foward to seeing the most. Do you really think I watch it to see what scheme Melanie is up to or who Stephanie is falling for now. Those are the ones that need to go…..Without John, Marlena, Steve, and Kayla I dont think I will ever watch Days again. They are going to drop in the ratings if they keep letting the interesting ones go.
Comment added February 23rd, 2009 at 4:06 pm
They are getting rid of the wrong talent. Why not get rid of Melanie, the most annoying character. They should remember the fans that have been with them for years. I started watching Days with my mother and grandmother, many many years ago.

I started watching Days in 1967 when I was home from high school, sick with mono and have watched it off and on ever since(before VCRs/DVRs it was a challenge to stay caught up). This is truly the end of an era and a very sad ending to what was once the best of the soap genre.
Comment added February 24th, 2009 at 7:33 am
Frankly, I am not at all surprised that Patch and Kayla are going along with John and Marlena, Tony, and obvisously Anna (haven’t seen her for months, since these writers consider Soap Operas a young person media. Sorry, it isn’t, it has been proved young folks only watch network TV 3 hours A WEEK. They usually buy DVDs of their favorite shows and watch them when they are in the mood. It was also proven that older folks spend much more of their time watching TV. But the networks are trying desperately to create a future for themselves so get used to younger and younger actors and storylines. I personally got sick of all the time Days spent on the Dimera family and folks connected with them and so I long along started just recording Days and instead watch another soap on at the same time in my area (no need to tell what show that is) they unlike Days have continued to used older actors and favorites. I will however continue to record Days until they let Bo and Hope go at which time, I will no longer record it.
Comment added February 24th, 2009 at 8:35 am
Actually, I have been disgusted with the show since they had EJ shoot John and then stole his kidney. I frankly can’t believe John would ever forgive him or Stephano for doing it. But I guess that is why when he was getting his memories back he had to be taken off the show because he may have wanted revenge and most viewers would finally see EJ for what he is and was an horrible sadist GHOUL. Yes, a person who would rob a grave. EJ bores me although I had hopes for him when he started to show feelings for Nicole but the writers instead of evolving the two characters and their relationship, by having them deal with Nicole’s miscarriage together, instead went with the old switch the babies storyline. Too bad considering Nicole was actually going forward as was EJ now they are just two more pawns that are made to revolve around queen sami. Again good bye Patch and Kayla, I have read on other message boards for another soap opera, you characters on that would be welcomed.

I’m telling you people DAYS is dead drop it and go to CBS and watch Young & Restless it’s a good soap…..and they still have all their vets from years ago…. I wrote this in here once but I can’t find it so I guess they took it out! TRUTH HURTS don’t it?

I happen to think that the newer story lines are great, especially the craziness of Sami, Nicole and EJ. I hope EJ and Sami end up together after of course after Nicole gets exposed. Rafe is hot, but just a spicy extra..I couldn’t watch Days when Marlena and John were on, their lines were too fake and corny! Sorry If I offended anybody

Oh yeah, Melanie Rocks!! I love her bitchy attitude, by the way I’m a younger viewer and yes alot of us do watch Days and if we can’t watch during the day, it always comes on at night on the SOAP channel!

So glad to see that others agree with me that the writing was SO MUCH better during the writers strike. Please, DOOL, fire the new writers instead!! Story lines have been pathetic for way too long. And com’on - there is no way that the real Bo and Hope would act as they are acting now either. Have you forgotten who these fantastic character truly are? I’m holding out for Sami and Bo and Hope. The day they are gone, so am I.

I have watched days since the beginning. I still love it. I could never get interested in any other soap. How many story lines can they come up with for the old folks?I look forward to watching days every day. I like the sami e.J. Nicole story line. They must have to pay attention to the budget in these economic times. So the people without a story line have to go. I still love whats left. Keep up the good work.

Have watched DOOL since it’s beginnings but now I have to force myself to watch. It’s obvious that DOOL is on it’s way out. Why else would they ruin a perfectly good soap by letting the Vets go and having the story lines be so ridiculous. Go watch Y&R, they keep their Vets and the writers know what they are doing.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS, I ALSO HAVE WATCHED DAYS SINCE THE BEGINNING. IF THESE STUPID WRITER’S THINK THEY ARE GOING TO GET AWAY WITH FIRING ALL OF THERE VETS, I WILL NEVER WATCH IT AGAIN. I GUESS IT WILL BE LIKE ANOTHER WORLD ON IT’S WAY OUT. IT IS ASHAME THAT WE ALL HAVE PUT OUR LIVES INTO THIS SHOW EVERY WEEKDAY FOR SO MANY YEARS AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET IN RETURN. NO RESPECT! AND THOSE WERE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES. MRS.H YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED & LOVED. LATER DAYS??

I also have watched DAYS since the beginning and when they started getting rid of the vets to bring in young blood with NO story line then DAYS started going down hill. If I’m going to watch a soap I want it to have a story line and with all the new blood they are bringing in is like watching a different soap that has no story line.

I have watched DOOL from the 70’s, and I am just about to finish watching it. I was terribly turned off when the veteren actors left. The young actors on the show don’t display relevance. Come to think of it, I AM DONE!

John & Marlena, Kayla & Steve!!!! What in the hell is going on? DOOL has very loyal fans but if the writers don’t get it together and management doesn’t stop getting rid of the characters we most love, they’re gonna lose those fans!

I started watching Days w/ my Mom and Grandmother when I was 8 years old. I do not want to say how long ago that was. I am very dismayed w/ the story lines and the vets leaving. Bo and Hope and Sami are the back bone of Days and I hope they do not leave. I remember when Another World was taken off the network. As far as Soap Network, why are we watching reruns of Ryans Hope? Why not bring back Another World?

I STILL LONG FOR THE OLD DAYS. ITS NOT SO MUCH THAT I DON’T LIKE THE NEWER ACTORS BUT THAT THEY HAVE GOTTEN RID OF THE VETERANS. DAYS WAS AT ITS BEST WHEN THEY INTERTWINED THE NEW WITH THE OLD AND SHOWCASED ALL THE TALENT.

Good - Kayla and Patch were SO boring! And he’s so stuck in the 80’s.
Let’s hear it for Sami and Rafe– now that’s a hot storyline!

I am done with DOOL, I have been watching since the beginning, when J & M left, I tried to watch, now K & S are gone, and bringing actors from Passions, please that soap was a joke to begin with. I will not be watching anymore, it is not the same, and EJ & N, now we have to watch him abuse N, no way, bye bye days, I won’t miss you. I will miss the way it used to be, when actors could act and writers could write, and the baby switch, you have been there and you have done it all before. Oh, and all the kidnappings, how many times were we forced to watch those over and over. The End

I am so saddened by the stupidity of the writers and their total disrespect for the Day’s fans. They just do not get it. We want the ole Days back. We do not like all the new characters who are not part of the Days family and tradition. Save our show before it is to late.

HOW COULD THEY!! I have been a fan of days ever since Marlena was possessed, remember that? Days was the best then. I record days every day in hopes the John and Marlena will find each other again, and just when they do, they are gone. And now to visit this site to find out that most of the main vets are leaving, might as well I don’t record it any more or at least wait until the Sami and Ej story finishes. Days use to be a show that I could escape to and only dream of relationship like Marlena and John, Bo and Hope, Shawn and Belle but somebody had to come along and destroy it all. A great big THANK YOU to that genius that is bringing on the new cast for the old you have made a major mistake. Its the mature audience that gets to stay home and enjoy the show, don’t forget that. And just when you finally brought back Stephano, WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. To all of Days Vets that are still there hang in there and to all the Vets that is or have left I’ll be back when you all come back. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT STORIES AND MEMORIES FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS, THEY WON’T BE FORGOTTEN. GOODBYE DAYS.
