Carolyn or Diane? You be the judge!

It’s always interesting to me how easy it is for fans to forget that their favorite soap characters aren’t actual people! To that end, I decided to do an interview series to help us all keep everyone straight! One of the actors I went to was a personal fave, Carolyn Hennesy, who plays the fabulous Diane Miller. Here’s how she differentiated herself from her character:

Soap Opera Fan Blog: Describe your idea of a perfect weekend.

Carolyn: Tuscan countryside, lots of friends, a little writing in the morning, cooking for the rest of the day, big feasts at night, walking in the village (there has to be a village!). Good company and good food.

Diane: Going over legal briefs, then going over other lawyers’ legal briefs looking for mistakes, feeding my pet snake, plowing through half a bottle of Scotch, rolling around with Max, having Kwan (my houseboy) cook our steaks just theway we like them, singing along with Ella F.

Soap Opera Fan Blog: What regrets do you have?

Carolyn: Not one.

Diane: Never being as close to my dad as I could have been. Not really knowing my mother.

Soap Opera Fan Blog: What kind of pet most appeals to you?

Carolyn: Cats!

Diane: “Lima Bean”, the green mamba.

Soap Opera Fan Blog: Your choice of comfort food?

Carolyn: Meatloaf. Or Reese’s Pieces. Or anything on a plate.

Diane: Ben and Jerry’s “New York Fudge Chunk.”

Soap Opera Fan Blog: If you could change one thing about yourself (besides a physical attribute), what would it be?

Carolyn: Even more discipline when it comes to writing.

Diane: Oh, please…I mean, when you’re dealing with perfection.
Seriously, I wouldn’t be so short tempered with Max. So quick to fly off the handle.

Soap Opera Fan Blog: What do you and your character have in common?

Carolyn: We love red meat, exquisite clothes, spa days, low-down, dirty blues and good-looking men.

Soap Opera Fan Blog: What about your character drives you nuts?

Carolyn: Diane is too quick to jump to the wrong conclusion about Max.

Soap Opera Fan Blog: What, if anything, about your character do you wish described you?

Carolyn: The good parts of Diane. I like to think I have ‘em, since I was part of the team that created her.
