Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations for Days of Our Lives.
Days has put quite a few of their performers up for consideration this year. The actors encompass a welcome mix of the new and the old, all of whom have had the chance to shine in a few choice moments over last year’s storylines. Kate struggled with disease and a sexy doctor; Lexi struggled with her son’s disease; Ava struggled with mental disease and her love of “Patch”; Steve struggled with the love of a mad woman; Nicole went a little crazy in love and Nick went very crazy in love. Meanwhile, Max suddenly turned out to be a genius and he discovered that he had a positively kooky sister. Chelsea dealt with her splintering love life and mental problems and her father, Bo, dealt with losing his father. Weaving between everything, Philip tried to take on the mantle of his father and become Salem’s most conniving business man, not to mention ladies’ man.
Series veterans Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) and Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera) were both pre-nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor category, while Jay Johnson (Philip Kiriakis) and Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson) both received nods for the Outstanding Supporting Actor position. Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and Renee Jones (Lexi Carver) were pre-nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress while Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) and Tamara Braun (Ava Vitale) both received recognition for their hard work by taking pre-noms as Outstanding Supporting Actress. The younger actor categories are also stocked with some stiff talent. Blake Berris (Nick Fallon) and Darin Brooks (Max Brady) were both chosen for pre-nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actor category. Series newcomer Molly Burnett (Melanie Layton) joined past nominee Rachel Melvin (Chelsea Brady) in the Outstanding Younger Actress category.
The official nominations will be announced in late April. For more details, and to hear the Soaps.com editor Christine Fix’s thoughts on the nominations, please check out her article on out sister site.
Soap Opera Fan Blog wishes all of those on the list the best of luck and thank them for all of their hard work last year!
