Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations for Days of Our Lives.

The Pre-Nominations for this year’s Daytime Emmys were announced today.

Days has put quite a few of their performers up for consideration this year. The actors encompass a welcome mix of the new and the old, all of whom have had the chance to shine in a few choice moments over last year’s storylines. Kate struggled with disease and a sexy doctor; Lexi struggled with her son’s disease; Ava struggled with mental disease and her love of “Patch”; Steve struggled with the love of a mad woman; Nicole went a little crazy in love and Nick went very crazy in love. Meanwhile, Max suddenly turned out to be a genius and he discovered that he had a positively kooky sister. Chelsea dealt with her splintering love life and mental problems and her father, Bo, dealt with losing his father. Weaving between everything, Philip tried to take on the mantle of his father and become Salem’s most conniving business man, not to mention ladies’ man.

Series veterans Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) and Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera) were both pre-nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor category, while Jay Johnson (Philip Kiriakis) and Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson) both received nods for the Outstanding Supporting Actor position. Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and Renee Jones (Lexi Carver) were pre-nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress while Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) and Tamara Braun (Ava Vitale) both received recognition for their hard work by taking pre-noms as Outstanding Supporting Actress. The younger actor categories are also stocked with some stiff talent. Blake Berris (Nick Fallon) and Darin Brooks (Max Brady) were both chosen for pre-nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actor category. Series newcomer Molly Burnett (Melanie Layton) joined past nominee Rachel Melvin (Chelsea Brady) in the Outstanding Younger Actress category.

The official nominations will be announced in late April. For more details, and to hear the editor Christine Fix’s thoughts on the nominations, please check out her article on out sister site.

Soap Opera Fan Blog wishes all of those on the list the best of luck and thank them for all of their hard work last year!

good to see all the nominations for the daytime emmy awards.
i agree with all of them.
maybe they can all win. would be a nice thing, ya know.

  2. From Maria

I am glad Lauren got nominated and i hope she wins. I have really been enjoying her acting.

  3. From Julianne

I love Lauren as Kate and definitely agree with her being nominated. Renee Jones is a great actress, but we haven’t really seen her. I don’t understand why she was nominated. Definitely Arianne Zuker, Alison Sweeney or Kristian Alfanso should have been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress with Lauren. For Supporting Actress definitely Rachel Melvin! That girl has talent!! Jay Kenneth Johnson, James Scott, John Aniston, Joseph Mascolo and Peter Reckell for Outstanding Lead Male. Thaoo is wonderful, but again, we haven’t really seen him. He should be nominated as a Supporting Actor. That is just my take on it.

LOL half the nominees are either gone from the show or on their way out……Just who is the brains behind this operation anyway? Wow FUBAR and then some.

I think James Scott deserves to be nominated as well as Ari Zuker. They have had some really intense scenes, some serious and some humorous and I feel they should be recognized for all their hard work.

I don’t watch the awards, there are more than enough actors that should have received these in the past from Days and didn’t….ever notice that it’s all ABC that wins? I’ve watched other day time stories and they are not that much better than Days. I think the actors on Days are much better all in all (except Melanie, I wish they would send her back to acting classes)

How could they overlooked the little guy that plays Theo? He is fantastic ! ! ! That’s just wrong.

  8. From Connie

I dont really understand why Lauren Koslow would be nominated I thought her story line of having cancer was not at all accurate and was an insult to those that have actually had cancer.

It seems like NBC is overlooked byt the daytime nominees. I would lkie to see the old timers like Bo and Hope and even Abe get a nomination. It doesn’t matter on the awards, Days has my vote anyday.May the hour glass never run out on the show.

I can not believe Alison Sweeney was not nominated for 2009??

I’m guessing Days wouldn’t be nominating her again this year??
