36th Annual 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards Set To Air August 30! (UPDATED!)
Updated on April 8:
On the tail of yesterday’s announcement, Soap Opera Fan Blog has some more previews for what you can expect to see at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards! ATI’s president of Worldwide Media and Entertainment, Jim Romanovich, dishes… “I am planning a tribute to Guiding Light which will hopefully have a major star formerly of the soap along with classic clips and, if possible, as many living stars as possible on stage. That might be more difficult to achieve than I envision, but you know how we’re thinking. Also expect a memoriam to Phil Carey [Asa Buchanan] and Clint Ritchie [ex-Clint Buchanan] from One Life to Live. With the soap categories, think tribute rather than just “the nominees are…”

I would just like to say that i wish more of the Days Of Our Lives actors and actress could win a few awards, they are really agreat cast, Diedra Hall, is and always will be my favorite, but they are a lot more on the show, not to fond of the younger actors and actress, but i guess age will make the good.

I have been watching DOOL since he started way back when. I so agree with you on the awards. Have you heard anything about them taking DOOL off the air soon.

The CBS soaps have always been the very best. I think that the canceling of Guiding Light is one of the worse things CBS can do. The story lines, acting and writing are some of the very best in Guiding Light history. When you take soaps away from daytime tv, you take away the life of daytime television. Huge mistake!

I hope and pray that the Young and the Restless will win an award/be nominated for an award. They’re #1 in daytime. Giggity. hee hee.

James Scott(EJ DOOL)should have been a nominee this year but he declined entering any clips. He is the best actor on daytime IMO. Never has bad looks so good!

It seems that the writing is on the wall when it comes to Daytime Television. When the big three major networks, CBS, ABC, and NBC refuse to host as well as broadcast there very own (disgraceful), something is seriously wrong…What does this say to all of the viewers? The people working tirelessly for these major networks? That the support for all of these dramas seems to be nil, and with all the changes (a daily occurance), I appalud the daytime cast on there body of work, the writers who are seeking out fresh approachs to storylines, and the people unknown that work behind the scenes. Thank you to the CW for hosting and broadcasting the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards.

DOOL’s is the only one I watch. I tape it daily because I have a life but, I think that James Scott and the girl that plays Melanie are going places! The girl that plays Chloe is one of my favorites. She was born in my hometown NEWPORT, RI. Good luck to them in the Emmy’s. They are all excellent!

I am having a hard time trying to figure out how the awards system works, because how could the woman who worked with Jon lindstrom the woman who played Carly be nominated and not him? This happened I just do not understand it. But I guess I am not as intelligent and sophisticated as the judges are. Maybe she could act all by herself without any costars. What do I know.

I sure hope Peter Reckell wins Sunday he deserves it after all these years. I met him Friday in NY he is a down to earth guy. And a Fantastic actor whom My vote is on him. Also for any of the actors on Days of Our Lives Lets get the Awards you all deserve it. Love the show watching forever.

I have been watching Guiding Light since I was a little girl along with my mom. Who has been watching since it started with her mom on radio. We are so sad to see it end. It will be greatly missed… We hope and pray another station would pick it up.
