Darin Brooks Leaves Days of Our Lives.
Days of Our Lives fans can say goodbye to another cast member.
It has been announced that Darin Brooks (Max Brady) will be leaving the show. He’s been playing the role of the race car driver turned mechanic turned math genius since 2005.
The news isn’t entirely surprising. The young actor has been busy shooting a new series called “Blue Mountain State” (read more here) as well as lending his time to various charities like Clothes off Our Backs and Tag the World. The character is expected to exit in May, around the same time that his current love interest, Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) is also expected to exit.
Soap Opera Fan Blog will be sad to see him go but we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

how many more actors have to leave before people stop watching? the only people I even watch anymore are Sami Brady, Max, Chelsea and Bo and hope I don’t really like most of the other characters. Any other good characters leave the show and it will die, so either just kill Days all together or stop firing the really good actors.

Well, that is really a shame – he’s about the only decent actor on DOOL anymore. I really do like he and Chelsea but I wish him the very best! You will be sorely, sorely missed Darin!!

I really liked Max and am sorry to see him go, but I think the writers botched a few really good story lines for him that would have taken him into a mainstay character

Well, won’t be long before this soap goes off the air too. Guiding Light is leaving in Sept. Days has lost all the leading characters. Now all they have are teenagers and Stefano..BAH!!!

wow they are letting max go but they are keeping nichole’s character.I say pull the plug on days. This show is so BORING NOW.I just read the spoilers cause i cant seat there and watch the show for a whole hour. It puts me to sleep lol. Anyways Nichole is a bitch, EJ makes me sick now. Kate well she is just a waste of space. Chole, someone please do something decent with her hair. Victor, IS BORING. Stefano yeah like we are suppose to believe that Nichole is smarter then him. She faked her pregnacy and he did not KNOW YEAH WHATEVER. Phillip needs to take a shower. Maggie needs to stop being so nosey. Dan is a bed hopper YUCK. Hope is boring now so is roman.BO has visions come on now this aint passions ok. Stephanie is whinny.Will gets on my last nerve i want to slap that boy freakin teenagers. Mia is ok. i have watched days for many years and would get so upset when i would miss one of the shows,but nowI’M SO UPSET THAT YOU ARE GETTING RID OF THE BEST ACTORS.I HAVE WATCHED FOR OVER 40 YEARS,BUT

I, too, have watched Days since the first day with my Grandma. The show isn’t even close to being the show that many have watched and came to love through the years. Too many of the veterans have left. I know story lines age out, but family trees don’t. There is so much in-breeding that it’s a wonder that the theme from Deliverance isn’t played for the opening credits. If one person had come down with the HIV virus, the whole town would have been wiped out by now, with the exception of Alice. Let’s have some semblance of reality mixed in with the drama. Some good news to remind us of how bad the bad can be. The writers have taken this show down a very windy,slippery road, one that I don’t know if many will follow much longer. I would hope that wasn’t their intent to make it so lousy that we won’t care when it goes off the air. What a shame.

Seems that all the actors who make this show continue to leave or be let go. Why don’t you just call the entire show quits. The show already just isn’t the same. So many main characters gone and still leaving..you writers have your head in the sand if you think long time fans are going to continue to watch.

Hey to the writers are you trying to lose your jobs? Serioulsy you guys are getting rid of the reasons why people have watched this soap for years. This is ridiculious There are only a few people left and I guess I will have to find another saop to watch because I am not going to support a show who does not support the reason why they got the job in the first place.

it will be nice to bring in some fresh new actors and new story lines… the reason the show is getting boring is because the old actors can only go through so much before its boring!

Best of luck Darin. I am sorry to hear that your character is leaving DOOL. I think the writers missed out on a few good story lines for you. I agree with the fan DaysAlways in saying can you take your Days 1/2 sister Melanie with you! I can’t wait to see where you land next. I would love to see you in primetime!

Good Lord, and another one bites the dust! Max was one of the few characters most like us! He actually works for a living, and doesn’t keep secrets from those he loves. So now the whole show is centered around Nicole, and why should I care about this totally unreal situation?! Days’ writers, plz don’t kill this show!

It’s sad to see Max go.. wish you all the best Max. Chelesa will go along with him as well. I strongly believe that they will come back in the near future. I love SAMI & RAFE are together. I am sick of Nicole.. she gets on my nerves.. time for her to tell EJ the truth. Brady wants Nicole back, that’s quite surprised me tho. I’d love to have John/Marlene/Patch/Kayla come back and hope they will come back. And Also time for Melanie go as well.

GEEZ PEOPLE!!! Some of you are acting like Darin was fired. But, that is clearly NOT the case. He is leaving to persue other things, the same as Rachel. One character I could do without is Melanie. That girl drives me CRAZY. I really don’t even see the point of her character.

I have watched this show forever, and don’t remember a time where I was soooooooo bored as I have been these past few months. Once this “baby switch” stuff is resolved, I may bid what used to be my favorite show good-bye.

When I heard Chelsea was leaving I was upset. Chelsea and Max are one of my favorite couples. But if Chelsea is leaving, I guess it is only right that Max follows her. They will be missed. The only characters I like on the show now are Sami/Lucas, Bo/Hope, and Philip/Stephanie.

How sad. I never watch the show anymore. It is not the soap I spent the last 40 years watching. Can they possibly think that they are writing a good show??? It must be hard for the old favorites on the show to do their job anymore. In this economy, I don’t blame them for going to work and making a paycheck while Days slowly dies. This was once a wonderful, must see program.

I have been watching Days along with my mom sistera nieces and friends for as long as I can remember. Before long you can miss a week and come back and not know anybody on the show. STOP MESSING WITH DAYS

I’m taking the dog to the park because there are few reasons to give an hour to this soap any more. I am a 40 year veteran of Days and can’t believe the misguided direction the show is going. And for heaven sake, END the baby charade with Nicole!!! Cannot believe Marlena and John are gone – what were the writers thinking??? And now we have more people dying and being shot? Are you kidding-don’t you see the news? I don’t need this. The ONLY reason I now tune in occasionally is to see EJ’s reaction when the truth comes out, IF EVER!

I have watched Days sinced it in aired 1965..the Horton’s and Bradey’s were loving families. What happened!?????? When you took John/Marlena Steve/Kayla off … YOU MADE A BIG MISTAKE!! Well, i’m certainly not happy that Max will be leaving. I hated it when his brother Frankie left. I was hoping him and Jennifer would get back together after all those years. Jack was a ding a ling. Anyway I’ve been watching Days since the beginning over 40 yrs ago. For quite a few years now the show was getting very boring and now it is so exciting that I hate when its over and can’t wait to see the next episode, it’s been a long time since I felt that way. However, some of the choices of people that were let go, I feel were very wrong. First of all Patch and Kayla should have been given better story lines and should still be on. I was getting tired of Marlena and John and his Thats a fact storylines. Stephano is getting old and enough of Kate with all her butting in on her kids lives. Get rid of her. I would love to see Sammy and Rafe together, Sammy and Lucas thing got old. Nicole is a good actress, but I’ve had enough of her and her evil ways also. Daniel can go too. He is just too much of a ladies man. He need to find his own woman and stay away from every one elses. I love Philip and Stephanie. I hope they are not next to leave. And what ever happened to Mickey. They finally got a new one and where the heck did he go now. One more thing. Bo and Hope need some good story lines. I hope the writers keep the story going. I am going to miss Max. I thought he was wonderful.

Face it..Days started to suck a few years ago. How many baby switch story lines have we seen? How many times has Stephano died and come back. Sorry, but John and Marlena ran out of gas a long time ago. They bring back people and give them the lamest storylines. Steve and Kayla having a baby? New characters are about as interesting as watching paint dry! Melanie has got to be one of the pointless characters to come along in awhile. Chloe and Lucas have ZERO chemistry and Daniel”the Dude doctor” is dull. I guess when Lexie is your only other choice for medical care he seems competent. When Days was good, it was grea. Stick a fork in it, it’s done!!!!!!!!

I’m sorry to see Darin leave the show, but he’s probably making a very good career move. Having DOOL on your resume probably doesn’t say a lot right now. It’s too bad – they’ve sacrificed all of the people that made it fun to watch for money ….. they’ll lose. Sammy/Rafe, EJ, John/Marlena – they could have done so much with these charactors. The actors are terrific, but their material really sucked. too bad.

I think the answer is to buy the products being advertised. The advertiser will know that his advertising dollars are being used successfully. People have to start supporting the media and the advertisers or we will all be sorry about the quality of television and journalism.

I am so disappointed but not suprised since Chelse is making the exit. Wrong people not to try to keep on the show. I agree that the Nicole/EJ story is really boring. Reveal the truth already and move on. I still cannot believe that they are keeping the character Melanie on the show. I cannot stand her whining voice. If she is staying please stop the whining! I guess this Christmas there will be no one to place the Christmas Ornaments on the Horton/Brady trees. What a shame.

I started watching days august 15 1968 the reason i know is because i was in the hosp and my roommate watched But i quit watching 8 months ago i check in on commings and goings once in a while. but when they got rid of all the good actors and put on all those stupid kids that cant act dont they know that adults dont like stupid kids the only ones that will be watching are in school all day KIDS I watched it for 41 years and Im done any one else quit for that reason

I too have watched for 40 yrs…..what used to be a show I could hardly wait to watch (way before you could even tape it!!) has turned very silly and boring, especially when all those that are familiar (and you learned to love all these years) are gone or going!! Whose leaving next? The writers obliviously don’t know “Salem” very well and have given up on their jobs. I now fast forward through most of the story lines and “filler repeat” stuff. I’m about ready to “leave” also!!

I have been a Days viewer for over 40 years now, but doubt that I will be watching much longer. The best characters have either left the show or been let go, and the story lines are absurd. I honestly don’t know what the writers are thinking or what type of audience they are trying to appeal to. Apparently, they don’t seem to care that they are turning off their long time loyal fans.

This is really an example of the poor decision making and casting from DOOL these days. I’ve been watching since I was a small child (with my mom) and I’m 41 yrs old now. Darin as Max was refreshing. He actually seemed real vs a wooden actor (like all these little kids they are putting on….Melanie, the new Will, Mia, etc)and was fun to watch. Blown opportunity to enrich a decent character. Who is even going to be left anymore? At least there is Sami and Rafe. Otherwise, it’s a lost show. Best of luck to Darin though. I’ve really enjoyed him.

why do they have to get rid of all the good, interesting and not to mention good looking Characters, I really only watch for Sami and Rafe now, half the time I get up and make my lunch or do a little cleaning and then when Sami and/or Rafe are one screen I come back and watch, and yes the Nicole stuff they dragged that story so far there’s no point to it anymore, either tell Ej, or get her to stop being paranoid already, and bring back some more of the amazing characters we know and love or you can kiss this favorite soap of so many good bye

I will certainly miss Darrin. I wish him the best in his new life career choice. I’ve been watching DOOL from it’s conception, and loved all characters. We need Marlena, John, Kayla and Steve to return to the show. It’s not the same without them in the cast. Most of the good characters are/have left, which lately makes for a boring show. We need the characters who gave so much to DOOL back, and hope you producers and directors see how much they are missed. Bring the family members back together. THAT was when DOOL was the BEST of the BEST!

My comments are much like everyone else’s. But put the blame where it lies – on the writers. When they got their old writer back it was supposed to be so great but he really sucks.
