James Franco Joins The Cast of General Hospital. (Updated)
Feature film star James Franco (“Milk,” “Spiderman”) will be joining the cast of General Hospital.
As part of research for an upcoming film, the actor will be shooting a few days a week. So far, there are no specific details available about the role he will be playing but you can expect to see him on November 20. Speculation is that his arrival could also bring the return of alum Vanessa Marcil (Brenda Barrett). Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) tweeted this response to a fan question about the two actors joining the show, “Franco is…don’t know about Vanessa.”
Franco will be shooting several episodes on October 30, November 6 and November 13. They will air over two months. His character is being described as, “Jason Morgan’s worst nightmare.”

James Franco’s character will be named, appropriately enough, Franco. He’s connected to the C077X graffiti tag and ‘He’s a psychotic yet self-deprecating artist who is fixated on death and will zero in on Jason Morgan’.
“Franco is fascinated with Jason and what he does for a living—he thinks they both love death and are essentially the same kind of guy. But then Jason refuses to meet with him and that’s when things start to go south,” Steve Burton (Jason) explained.
“We’re mixing James up with as many of our major characters as possible and creating a big umbrella story that will continue to play out after he’s gone. He’s very excited and wants to do more. There’s a very good chance he’ll be back,” Head Writer Bob Guza added.
