Days Of Our Lives Honoring Retired Veterans.

“Days Of Our Lives” will have real Veterans appearing on the show this January 2012 in order to honor U.S. troops dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Real life veterans will appear as themselves in  this episode which will focus on Marlena (Deidre Hall) trying to get Jack (Matt Ashford) help by taking him to a veteran’s hospital and visiting with patients who are struggling, like him, with their return home and with their own memories of being at war.  Captain Leslie Nicole Smith, a former Army Public Affairs Officer, who retired due to a blood virus contracted in Bosnia will be just one of the vets focused upon. Smith lost her left leg, vision in her left eye and some in her right during her time in Bosnia. Captain Smith does public speaking around the country to veterans and other victims of post-traumatic stress disorder.

What a fantastic idea. I love the storyline with Jack suffering PTSD and to have real vets on the show suffering from the same is a great idea.

  2. From Casey

I agree VickyP. Jack’s PTSD seems plausible, even expected from his hostage experience.
Sounds like a touching show coming up, but then Jack has a way of bringing me to tears at times. He is so vulnerable and flawed but sweet.

I thought Jack did a great acting job while stuck in the cabin. What a great way to go into this storyline with our Vets. We all need more awareness and this is a great forum to get the message out.

I know this storyline with veternas will hopefully boast the ratings of Days.

What a great idea! We must NEVER forget the men and women who fought for our country and freedom! It’s the ultimate sacrifice anyone could endure. Looking forward to seeing the episode.

    This episode really hit home.

It is an embarrassment how bad the USA treats our heroes are treated when they come home with injuries from the war.

Whether physical or emotional, they deserve the best treatment available. Since our congressmen and senators have the best “FREE” medical coverage for life available over anyone in the USA, maybe they should contribute a percentage of their pay to help our returning heroes.

God bless you all and may God bring you all home safely.
