The best of the blogs.

After all of the action the past few weeks, things are settling down a bit in Daytime. If you can consider surprise weddings, cross dressing designers and secretive druggings calm.

Deconstructing Days:

I never thought an explosion could be anti-climactic before the safe house blew to smithereens. No one was injured at all, not even Roman who was not in a fortified basement but right outside the door. Other than that is was a pretty sad week in Salem as everyone came to terms with the “death” of Bo, John, Rafe, Carrie, Marlena and Hope or the impending death of Lexi. Austin’s scrap booking was certainly an unintended bit of comic relief, but very much welcomed. The biggest mystery of all is what the heck kind of drugs did Ian slip Brady? Christine says, “I don’t understand Kate. By her own admission, she made a big mistake bedding Ian, yet still she dates him, knowing that she’s in love with Stefano. Is she afraid to be alone? And what is Ian’s reason for going after her? What is the substance he’s drugging Brady with? I thought possibly steroids but doesn’t that type of aggression Brady experienced happen over time?” Read more at Days Of Our Lives Weekly Blog.

Restless Rant:

There seem to be some growing pains as the show tries to accommodate a larger cast of characters, which leaves certain favorites out in the cold. Phyllis’ pregnancy is moving along fine, but she couldn’t do anything to stop Daniel from marrying crazy Daisy. Other than that it was the week of the jerk as Tucker cheated on Ashley, Neil wasn’t too beat up about his own wandering ways and Daniel, despite marrying Daisy, still decides to make out with Eden without clueing her in. Candace says, “Daniel’s brain went completely AWOL as he got Daisy drunk and left her passed out with Lucy. What are they doing to Daniel? Maddening! Anyway, Phyllis found her and they all headed over to Jimmy’s to find him necking with that desperado, Eden. No words.” Read more at The Young And The Restless Weekly Blog.

B&B Breakdown:

I know other things happened this week on “B&B,” but Rick showing off his dance moves in heels was  just too much fun. Other than that, Hope moved out, which opens the door wide open for Steffy. But it seemed to bring her back off the precipice so hopefully she can keep her jealousy in check. As usual, Bill was right there in Liam’s ear cheering for Steffy and putting Hope down as much as possible. Candace says, “Liam appeared to be actually considering taking Bill’s advice and phoning Steffy, when she showed up at the door. You have to give it to her – she played her cards just right by leaving him wanting more, and they now share a secret from Hope to boot. Deciding to keep this explosive a secret from Hope is the pinnacle of stupidity and hypocrisy on Liam’s part.” Read more at The Bold And The Beautiful Weekly Blog.

GH Rundown:

One of the best things to happen to Port Charles in a while is Todd Manning’s return. While people are split on which actor is their favorite Todd, it is hard to deny the sense of levity he brings to the screen. Sam and McBain continue to dance around each other, trying to maintain that top dog position. Maggie’s death wasn’t too much of a shock, but only if Heather gets away with it. Hollie says, “Watching Kate begging Sonny to at least listen to her explain about Connie was frustrating, in that Sonny was so self righteous about it all. I get that he is angry, but it was hard not to feel sorry for her.” Read more at General Hospital Weekly Blog.

Matt’s Musings:
The big event this week was the safe house explosion and all of the aftermath, including the fake wake Matt says, “And misery continued in DiMera land. Lexi finally broke the news to Chadsworth that she was going to spend the summer dying. He was broken up about it but agreed to do all he could to help. Elvis had other things on his mind. He finally discovered the infamous letter from Alice which exposed the fact that he is not Stefano’s real son. Stefano admitted that he found the whole thing hard to admit. After all, EJ looked exactly like his father. This only hinted at the other big secret which is yet to be revealed – Colleen wasn’t actually a Brady.” Read more of Matt’s take at Matt’s Musings.
