Days Of Our Lives Poll: Cancellation.

Holding on?

Worried that “DOOL” could soon be biting the dust? You’re not alone. While rumors of the show’s demise are hardly rare, they get a little louder every year. This year has been no exception. According to TV Line, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt assured a group of television critics that the soap would not be getting the axe this year. The network executive also stressed that this was not an official statement and nothing had been settled. The show’s current contract with NBC ends in September. Do you believe what he’s saying, or is he peddling a little false hope?

I’ve been watching the show for 36 years and it’s really gone down hill. Even when they bring in new writers, it still doesn’t work because what they write is soooo ridiculous that it insults the viewers intelligence. I think it’s time to cancel the show altogether.

I actually think that the show has gotten better but the ratings prove otherwise. I hope the ratings can turn around like it has for GH. If not, I think Days is doomed by the end of the year. Been watching Days for about 32 years and I hate even thinking there might be no more Days…..

I am afraid for DOOL, just because it is always last in the ratings. It’s not bad writing, it’s just that how do you gain watchers when younger audiences just don’t care about soaps. I think all the soaps on TV are just hanging on to their old core audiences. No, I would hate to lose DOOL, and I’ve watched since 1972.

well, i have been watching since 1968 so i am hoping it will stay for while. i am now retired and get to see it 1st hand (not being recorded and watched later when i worked).
i think if they keep bringing back some of the characters that use to be on the show the ratings will change. hopefully anyway..
us old timers seem to be the key. the younger folks have their i-pads, i-phones, etc.

i, too, have been watching for more than 30+ years, actually closer to 40! i think that bringing back some of the older characters has helped, but they have to make sure the characters are acting “true to their character.” the story line with kristen has really increased my interest, but i hope the writers don’t ruin it by having john/marlena not acting true to their form. there is no way that john would stay in a hotel (as he said on yesterday’s show) because he was upset with marlena. i enjoy the show and would HATE for it to be dropped just so that another “reality” or “talk show” can fill it’s time slot.

Here’s the scoop kids: every few years we hear from exiting writers the same stories. The reality is that even if we do something bold like John getting a mistress or Brady doubting his sexuality or Hope turning to drugs storylines must be approved by Sony, the producers, the Network and sometimes, the actors themselves.
While bringing quality entertainment and good writing, they truly must survive the stages of the cross to get a point on camera. And by that time if the advertisers pull out, then heads roll. So guys, if it sounds all so true its because soaps itself rarely steps out of its core. And when they do, it’s ratings gold ( ie: the Demonic Possession, Aremid, Princess Gina Storyline, Melaswen, The Salem Slasher, etc)

This show is horrible now. The writers are taking it to the grave. Too much of Sami and EJ,where is Lucas? I don’t watch anymore because Gabi,Nick,Chad, Abby and many more they suck the life out of the show. Give us our veterans back. The storyline really stink. At least now I got my life back. Ken Corday you suck you hired horrible writers and young crowd need acting lessons. RIP DOOL.
