General Hospital’s Rick Springfield’s Sound City Videos.

Paying tribute.

On March 5, Rick Springfield (Noah) joined Dave Grohl of The Foo Fighters and Nirvana on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to perform “The Man That Never Was.” The musical event, also including rocker John Fogerty, as well as the Sound City Players, was held on Hollywood Blvd. (which was shut down for the concert) in front of Jimmy Kimmel’s studio.

The three rock icons gathered to promote the documentary “Sound City,” directed and produced by Grohl, about the famed music studio where artists such as Springfield, Nirvana, Guns n’ Roses, Fleetwood Mac, Rage Against the Machine and others produced records. An album accompanies the documentary, out March 12, which includes Springfield’s “The Man That Never Was,” written with the Foo Fighters specifically for the album.
