“DOOL’s” Freddie Smith (Sonny) will be heading to Washington. The actor will be joining Brooke Anderson (“The Insider”) and Nikki Blonksy (“Hairspray”) on July 19 to speak to legislatures about bullying, mentoring and other issues facing children. New role.

According to ABC Soaps In Depth, Vaughan will play a firefighter named Jeff and Sweeney will be Jenny, a single mom and 911 operator. Their work means that they hear each other’s voices a lot but they don’t meet in the flesh until he busts up his leg and needs a place to convalesce. She just happens to be renting out her spare room. The adults do their best to resist their attraction to each other, but her kids seem a lot less skeptical about the hook up. Our sister site, Soaps.com, attended the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Nominees Cocktail Reception and caught up with a few Daytime actors.

“Days Of Our Lives’” Eric Martsolf (Brady) chatted with Soaps.com’s Deanna Barnert about how good life is for him and stated, “I have beautiful healthy boys, I have a wife that I’m still married to, I have a home and I’m on a soap that hasn’t been cancelled in the past 8 years.”

Another place to catch him.

Caleb Hunt can currently be seen on “Days Of Our Lives” as eager stalker-for-hire Andrew. The actor has been busy with other projects though. He recently completed the independent feature, “Rise Again.” Hunt plays the lead role in the film which follows a Civil War soldier who becomes a vampire. John Savage (“The Deer Hunter”) and Matthew Marsden (“Transformers 2,” “Coronation Street”) co-star in the movie which is scheduled for release some time in 2013. Read the rest of this entry »

Daytime stars came out to support the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Nominees at a cocktail reception on Thursday June 14 hosted by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Daytime Programming Peer Group. Nominees in attendance included “The Bold And The Beautiful’s” John McCook (Eric) and Heather Tom (Katie), “Days Of Our Lives’” Shelley Hennig (ex-Stephanie), “General Hospital’s” Sean Blakemore (Shawn), and “The Young And The Restless’” Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe), Genie Francis (Genevieve), and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea).

So far only one soap opera actress has been confirmed to present at this year’s 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Soap Opera Fan Blog will bring readers the full list when it’s released, but for now expect to see “Days Of Our Lives” Kristian Alfonso (Hope) present an award. Anderson Cooper (“Anderson”), animal expert Jack Hanna, Rachael Ray (“The Rachael Ray Show”), Caroll Spinney (“Sesame Street”) and the cast of “The Doctors” will also be doing the honors.

Dark Carnival.

“Days of Our Lives” alum Rachel Melvin (ex-Chelsea) will be back on stage this week. The actress continues her career as a dancer in the latest production from Urban Fairytails Burlesque. The company will be doing a performance titled “Dark Carnival” on Thursday June 14 at the Viper Room. Veteran “DOOL” star Deidre Hall (Marlena) will be appearing live on stage next month. The actress posted on her official Facebook page, “I have been asked and have agreed to appear in the Los Angeles production of ‘Grace Notes & Anvils.’ It is playing at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles July 5-8.” Read the rest of this entry »

“Days of Our Lives’” Joseph Mascolo (Stefano) will be taking his fans on a Murder Mystery Cruise. The event begins in Seattle on June 10.
