Molly Burnett Leaves Days Of Our Lives.

Leaving Salem.

After months of speculation, it was finally confirmed by Soap Opera Digest that Molly Burnett (Melanie) will be leaving the series. She will be exiting the canvas at the end of June.

The Littleton, Colorado native joined the cast of the soap in 2008. Since then, her character has lost a father, found a new one and had relationships with most of the younger male members of the cast. Read the rest of this entry »

Blake Berris Returns To Days Of Our Lives.

Brant Daugherty (Noel, “Pretty little Liars”) has been cast for an upcoming role on “DOOL.” The actor will be involved in a story featuring Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Freddie Smith). Days Of Our Lives Makes Cast Cuts.

The first to go.

“Days” is making drastic changes. Not only have they replaced their writing team, they are also slashing their cast. According to Soap Opera Digest, Matthew Ashford (Jack), Sarah Brown (Madison), Christie Clark (Carrie) and Patrick Muldoon (Austin) are all going to be leaving Salem in the near future. All of the actors were brought in last fall as part of the show’s much hyped revamp. McPherson and Thomas Out As Head Writers Of Days Of Our Lives. (Updated.)

New Head Writers Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell will be joined by Lorraine Broderick to reshape “DOOL.” Broderick, who was a protegee of Agnes Nixon, formerly worked on “All My Children” for a dozen years and was a breakdown writer for “One Life To Live.” She also worked on “DOOL” as Head Writer in 1999 but was fired less than a month later. Renee Jones Exits From Days Of Our Lives.

Retiring.

Veteran Daytime actress Renee Jones (Lexi) will be leaving the cast of “Days Of Our Lives” this summer. The 53 year old announced to TV Guide that she is heading for retirement. She explained that she’s tired of acting, wants to pursue her other interests and simply enjoy life. Jones originally joined the cast of “Days” in 1993. Charles Shaughnessy Returns To Days Of Our Lives.

Charles Shaughnessy will be back as Shane Donovan. The actor has been playing the spy on and off since 1984 and was last seen reuniting with Kimberly (Patsy Pease) in 2010 before leaving town again. A new young man is heading for Salem and will be turning some heads. Schuyler Yancey has been cast as Cameron Davis. The character will be playing a substantial part in the upcoming story involving Lexi (Renee Jones) and Celeste (Beverly Todd). Days Of Our Lives Welcomes Back Tanya Boyd. (Updated.)

Entertainment Weekly has reported that Beverly Todd (“Bucket List”) has been tapped to take the role of Celeste. The actress has already started shooting. Look for her to make her first appearance on April 3.

According to Soap Opera Digest, a statement released by the show states that Branco was wrong. “Reports are incorrect. We were unable to move forward with Tanya due to scheduling conflicts,” the statement said before announcing that they are casting for an established actor to take the role and make it their own.
