On Sunday February 17 the winner for the 2013 Writers Guild of America Awards will be announced simultaneously at ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York. ABC’s “General Hospital,” CBS’ “The Bold And The Beautiful” and “The Young And The Restless,” as well as NBC’s “Days Of Our Lives” will not be seen on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday January 21. President Barack Obama will be sworn in for his second term during The 2013 Presidential Inauguration.
All soaps will return to regular programming on Tuesday January 22.

On “Today,” it was revealed that one of the projects which Lisa Rinna had on the go will be her return to “The Apprentice.” The actress originally appeared in season 11. Look for her to be back for next year’s all-star season beginning in March.

“The Bold And The Beautiful” and “Days Of Our Lives” have been nominated for Outstanding Daily Drama for the 24th Annual GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards.
The winner will be announced during three ceremonies in March, April and May and recognize those in the media for accurate, fair and inclusive representation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

TVLine has received official confirmation that “Days of Our Lives” has been renewed. Its new contract will expire in September 2014. There had been fears that the last remaining soap on NBC would be cancelled this year thanks to falling ratings. Last year saw substantial budget cuts. “DOOL” alum Jensen Ackles (ex-Eric) tipped off People magazine that his family is about to get bigger. He and his wife, Danneel Harris Ackles (ex-Shannon, “One Life To Live”) are now expecting a child. This will be their first.

Worried that “DOOL” could soon be biting the dust? You’re not alone. While rumors of the show’s demise are hardly rare, they get a little louder every year. This year has been no exception. According to TV Line, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt assured a group of television critics that the soap would not be getting the axe this year. The network executive also stressed that this was not an official statement and nothing had been settled. The show’s current contract with NBC ends in September.
