The best of the blogs.

People were acting all crazy on Daytime last week, and while some of them were definitely justifiable, others were just certifiable. Katie got hysterical on “B&B,” which threw her into labor. On “GH,” Connie came back to do damage control while Heather was off mixing things up in Llanview. Nicole was practically delusional on “DOOL,” and on “Y&R,” sanity seemed to be at a premium.

B&B Breakdown:
Things got emotional last week, especially for Bill when he got caught in a lie by Katie. She took him to task for it but just minutes later he was in crisis mode, rushing Katie to the hospital as her labor started.  But what was with Katie’s reaction to Bill’s involvement in the wedding anyway? “Katie’s reaction was to go totally ballistic, which I found to be way over the top given that she already had overheard a conversation between Dayzee and Marcus about Bill plotting to sabotage the wedding, and basically chose not to pursue it,” Candace said. “Essentially, she shouldn’t have been surprised much by this reveal, and so her shock and outrage seemed out of place.” Read more about what started this mess – Deacon’s return – in The Bold and the Beautiful Weekly Blog.

The best of the blogs.

On “B&B,” a couple got married (not Hope and Liam), but the new beginning ushered in the end of Ron Moss’s time on the show. The residents of “GH” were cured of the pathogen, but not bad luck. Sami struggled to make a decision about her men on “DOOL” and Daisy’s return on “Y&R” should bring some serious heat soon. Plus, Dustin is back with his thoughts about what has been happening in Salem.

B&B Breakdown:
Finally, a wedding that had nothing to do with Liam, Steffy or Hope. And even if it was just Ridge and Brooke tying the knot again, knowing it was actor Ron Moss’s last appearance as Ridge made it a true landmark. Too bad the focus was more on Brooke and Stephanie than Ridge for his send off. “It was a good turnout for this wedding – even Bill showed – he usually begs off of these Forrester shindigs,” Candace said. “Presumably, he felt he needed to keep an eye on mini-me, since that’s about all he did. Anyway, I love a gathering, and there was some unexpected comedy, such as Pam careening around the mansion and calling Donna ‘fat’, some unexpected moments, such as Eric talking sweetly with Donna, and of course the expected interactions between Hope/Liam/Steffy/Thomas/Rick/Caroline. Gah. Brooke and Ridge’s vows were funny (thanks to Brooke’s reference to what might ‘arise’) and very emotional. Kleenex!” Read more about the wedding in The Bold and the Beautiful Weekly Blog.

The best of the blogs.

What would a week in Daytime be without plotting, scheming, sex, surprise returns and a major catastrophe? This is what we love about soaps, and each one had an element of each to share. For some reason Thomas was falling for Rick’s plot on “B&B,” Sharon ran into long-gone Daisy on “Y&R,” Nicole couldn’t seem to break free of her daydream fantasies on “DOOL,” and Jerry had the entire town of Port Charles in the palm of his hand on “GH.” Exciting stuff!

B&B Breakdown:
Yes! Another week with more characters on screen, which only made the show more dynamic and interesting to watch. And as always, it was fun to see Bill in true diabolical form. Candace said, “Dollar Bill was his blunt self this week as he became frustrated watching Liam moon over Hope’s press conference, and began hollering at him to snap out of it etc. It’s funny how Liam takes no notice of him now and continues on doing what he likes. I’m not sure why Steffy is choosing to spend her time watching Liam pine for Hope, but her conversations with Bill and Katie showed that she’s fine doing just that. By week’s end, Bill had another plan in the works – this time a family dinner including Katie and Steffy. Yikes, this can’t be a good idea. Bill is the Energizer Bunny of schemes and plots – and must be an eternal optimist too… ” Do you think Rick’s scheme to get Caroline is slimy? The best of the blogs.

Our favorite soaps had us reeling last week, as major happenings across the board forced many of the characters into new situations they never thought they would be in. Kevin helped Phyllis clean up a mystery death on “Y&R,” out-of-the-closet Will slept with town pariah Gabi on “DOOL,” Liam begged like a fool for Hope on “B&B,” while Olivia has mystical new powers on “GH.” But that was just the beginning.

Restless Rant:
Despite the lack of depth in some of the storylines – and some that were just missing completely – the ones we did have last week were full of comedy, some wackier than others. One move that Candace enjoyed was Kevin getting roped into Phyllis’ mess with now-dead Tim. She said, “Basically, we were asked to suspend disbelief for the sake of getting Kevin pulled into Phyllis’ mess, which has actually been pretty entertaining. Watching Kevin and Phyllis squirm, bicker in hushed tones, and get caught in odd situations such as hoisting her coffee table into the air is funny…and way better viewing than being bored silly by Kevin discussing the website with Chloe. I also love that Michael, as D.A., will completely lose his mind when he finds out Kevin’s involved.” Where’s Victor? Find out in The Young and the Restless Weekly Blog.

The best of the blogs.

Last week it was a cross between hysterically funny (Liam’s new look on “B&B,” Phyllis’ pseudo-seduction of little blue pill popping Tim) and the incredibly sad (Jack’s death on “DOOL,” Alexis’ and Joss’ health crisis on “GH”) it was a true emotional roller coaster on Daytime last week. Just the way I like it!

Restless Rant:

Phyllis’ ill-fated meeting with Tim in her apartment was simply outrageous, as was Nikki’s hunt for an MIA Victor – sans new hubby Jack. Meanwhile, Sharon gave us more reason than ever to believe there was something else going on in her life other than just marrying the grandfather of her children! Candace says, “The changes in Sharon and the twists in her story just keep coming, and this week, she went from wide-eyed and startled while burning the pre-nup, to playing wide-eyed and innocent when denying it, to positively wild-eyed in the boardroom! Yes, folks, by week’s end, Sharon, schooled by Tucker, who may have unknowingly unleashed a well-manicured monster on the unsuspecting corporate world, strode into the board meeting and not only made a bold power-play, but seemed to be channeling Victor himself! ” Read more in The Young and the Restless Weekly Blog.

Soap Digest Column.

The best of the blogs.

Once again, the world of soaps was full of high drama, intense passion and even a few clunker storylines. Fans were left hanging for one more week regarding the fate of their favorite Salemites on “DOOL,” Sharon continued to go off the rails on “Y&R,” the Steffy/Liam/Hope triangle dragged on over on “B&B” and sparks flew all over Port Charles on “GH.”

Restless Rant:

Genoa City was host to the gossipy Restless Style TV, Eden going under hypnosis, Adam and Kevin teaming up and Neil and Harmony’s painful first date. But it was Victor pushing Nikki’s buttons and Nikki needling Sharon, who started cracking up that held Candace’s attention. She says, “While Sharon hooking up with Victor will never be okay in my book, the story of Sharon getting utterly fed-up and becoming unhinged made for the most entertaining scenes this week. From her drunkenly crashing Nikki’s wedding reception, and kissing Tucker, to her denying any knowledge of the pre-nup and later setting it on fire, Sharon’s been a divine disaster!” Read more at The Young and the Restless Weekly Blog. The best of the blogs.

After a whirlwind across the Daytime campus a few weeks ago, last week was much more subdued. With “DOOL” off the air last week, we were left to ponder the fate of everyone after the explosion. On “Y&R,” many characters simply continued to rub us the wrong way (Kevin, Sharon) while on “B&B” we were left hanging, wondering what Thomas might have found. And on “GH,” the more things unraveled, the more confusing they became for everyone involved.

Restless Rant:

It was an uneven week in Genoa City despite some serious milestones like Ashley’s departure, Chelsea’s pregnancy, and Jack’s wedding, complete with medical miracle. Candace says, “After endless unsuccessful clashes with Victor, near-death experiences and epiphanies, misguided love affairs, and hurtful business dealings with loved ones, Jack is behaving worse than ever.  Alas, he may be back on his feet in the literal sense, but he’s set himself up to lose everything. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion – his blinders where Nikki’s concerned, his greed with Jabot/Beauty of Nature, and his treatment of Ashley are going to bite him big time. With all of that said, it’s tough not to love Ol’ Smilin’ Jack, and when he stood up at the wedding it was one of the best moments of the week – I had tears!” Read more at Young And The Restless Weekly Blog.

The best of the blogs.

As “DOOL” hurtled to a powerful cliffhanger before its two-week hiatus for the Olympics, the other shows worked just as hard to keep up that same pace, with storylines exploding all over the place.

Restless Rant:

With the news last week that writer Maria Arena Bell is out and Jill Farren Phelps and Josh Griffith are returning, storylines are sure to be shaken up. Meanwhile, the characters are coming with all kinds of spicy drama, with half the town involved in some kind of crime. And those who aren’t are acting just as sneaky, if not more so. Candace says, “From her sorta’ smug reaction to Ashley’s advice on Monday, to her snarky confrontations with Nikki and Chelsea on Friday, off-kilter Sharon is definitely getting viewers’ attention. She makes me grin… The best was when she pulled out the lipstick she stole from Chelsea in Victor’s office and slicked it on with that self-satisfied smile. The only thing missing is her going a round with Phyllis – hopefully that’s coming. In the meantime, I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do or say next…” Read more at Young And The Restless Weekly Blog.

The best of the blogs.

From love and sex (Kate and Sonny on “GH”) to being behind bars (Joe. Jr. on “GH,” Lucas on “DOOL, and just about everyone on “Y&R,”) viewers were served a heaping helping of drama last week in Daytime. Read on to see what the blogs had to say about it all.

Restless Rant:

Controversy was the name of the game in Genoa City last week, with everyone getting their hands a little dirty one way or another – though not every naughty maneuver was as fun as Abby and Carmine’s romp in the bushes. Candace says, “I cannot believe Michael and Lauren are sitting on what they know about the gun, while Paul gets charged with premeditated murder. Has everyone gone nuts? Nina, so desperate to have a loving relationship with Ronan, gives him a bitch blast every time she turns around. She never gives him the benefit of the doubt, which makes no sense given how she supposedly feels. And why isn’t anyone helping Eden to regain her memories? Hit her over the head, hypnotize her – someone do something! Also, what became of that knife? Inquiring minds want to know – I’m very leery of how that’s going to be explained… ” Read more at Young And The Restless Weekly Blog.

Soaps Digest Column.

July 16th, 2012 by Hollie Deese

The best of the blogs.

Ups and downs aplenty last week. “B&B” fans got mostly downs as the show continued to plod along the Liam/Steffy/Hope triangle. What would do it for me would be to bring back Deacon and let us see what is on the end of that video! “Y&R” continued to excite as long as Kevin and Chloe aren’t involved. But please, more Carmine. Anthony’s body was found on “GH,” and that opened a can of worms for quite a few characters. Can’t wait to see how Todd cares for Luke while Heather is in custody. And “DOOL” needed some help figuring out just who the characters even were last week. Read more about the rest below.

Restless Rant:

As bad as things looked for Paul last week, they were beginning to look even worse for Phyllis. Nick hit the bricks, her hit-and-run scandal is just getting started, and something tells me we have not heard the last from that missing psychologist she paid off not too long ago. Not that we have any problems with that! Christine says, “Like Sharon, I love Phyllis when she’s nuts. Are you seeing a trend? Most fans are tickled pink at the prospect that Phyllis could get her arse thrown in jail. I don’t recall Christine being on the payroll as a federal agent – was that a rewrite to make things seem more dire for Phyllis? Either way, it worked. The evidence is piling up and honestly I see no way out for her. I can’t imagine how she must be feeling and I don’t see it likely that she’ll get off at this point.” Read more at Young And The Restless Weekly Blog.
